Now can try EB810v + HB710 mesh. Haha.

Or if not needed, just sell HB710 for a bit of profit.
No need to mesh. Able to have 5/6ghz in entire flat. Only bad 6ghz coverage in mbr bathroom. Haha. Router in living room.

I actually have alta labs route 10. But still need sfp+ to get good speedtest. Also need an AP. Suddenly got lazy so grabbed HB710.

HB710 gives 4.4Gbps download / 4.6Gbps upload. Wifi6e on S23 ultra speed is 1.2Gbps download / 800Mbps upload. Also, the box mentioned ethernet backhaul is supported. While the web ui can uncheck the TR069. Not sure if it fully disables tr069.

Hopefully you still have S$192 left for TP-Link HB710. 🤣
https://www.starhub.com/personal/support/article.html?id=LfNB5odcBt0mTG6Pr7GSB7

I need more coverage on my home network with the TP-Link HB710, what can I do?
You can extend the coverage by purchasing another TP-Link HB710 or EB810v from StarHub. Additional units can be purchased at $8 per month for HB710, $15 per month for EB810v (for 24 months) during initial sign-up or cash & carry from our retail store and Hub Troopers at $192 or $360 respectively.
Is this custom firmware locked to Starhub?

EB810v and HB710 are service provider models. TP-Link does not provide download links for FW downloads on their website for EB810v or HB710.

No idea how much customizations Starhub does.

Whether you can get FW updates from other ISPs, that is another story. One M1 user reported that he could still get FW update from M1 network. Need more confirmations.

Where is the $29.55 plan? Only see the $45 plan on the website.

Read the few pages back in this thread and you should be able to get the hidden URL links for Starhub 5Gbps special offer at S$29.55 per month (two links, one for ONR and one for ONT).

Or go to the Singapore ISP comparison thread (first page) where I collect the special offer links from Starhub and Singtel from time to time.

WiFi 6 one is the lousy Nokia Beacon 2 (AX1800) --> no use one
HB710 is much better, WiFi 7, triband BE1800, dual 10G ports.

Other WiFi 6 routers from Starhub (all lousy one, except Linksys MX4200 Velop, 1G capable only)

usually for PC / NAS scenario.
The 10g LAN (ontop of 10g WAN) is for future proofing only, as we know the wifi6/7 will never be practically as fast as wired

Personally I think 2.5G wired devices will get popular and most families may have no or at most one 10G wired device.

If the router has one 10G port and a few 2.5G ports, that may well be a good one to use for 5Gbps or even 10Gbps plan, if you do not have a plan to add a 10G capable wired device (PC or NAS). Example is like the earlier mentioned Asus RT-BE92U (one 10G port and quad 2.5G ports, triband BE9700, at the listed price of S$399.

On the other hand, it is a moot point for Starhub 5Gbps plan users now that you can get HB710 at S$192 with dual 10 G ports, or EB810v at S$360 with dual 10 G ports and three 2.5G ports.

For the Nokia ONR option, you can always add more Nokia Beacon 2 nodes in the rooms.

As for placement of wireless router, you do need to follow certain best practices to have better wireless performance. For example, do not put the router in a closed cabinet. Put the wireless router in a higher place with no obstructions.
Which option would u recommend? As I heard Nokia router and Beacon 2 is very bad

Planning to switch to SH 5GBPS with the lowest upfront cost.

My current router is the AX88U. Able to keep this. I paid a lot of money to upgrade to that previously.

It will always depend on your budget.

Personally I will say go for the more expensive and better solution (ONT plus EB810v or HB710) than the lower cost option (ONR and Nokia Beacon 2) if budget allows.

Then different people have different budget on different areas. Quite some people are willing to pay S$1000+ for a mobile phone but not S$200 for a router.

Just go for it and use the 5Gbps plan as 1Gbps plan if your RT-AX88U serves you well.

There are no issues to use 5Gbps/10Gbps plans as 2.5Gbps plan or even 1Gbps plan in this case since you are looking at the lowest upfront cost (not buying any new stuff).

I will suggest to go for ONT option to have more flexibility in the future in case you want to get a better router (2.5Gbps or 10Gbps).

Simba states free installation charges for new broadband but when filling the form it states installation is chargeable. How to contact them?

any idea why new account can't sign up the $29.55 ONT plan. it keeps showing error. But when I used my family member (which already have a starhub broadband service) it shows able to sign up for additional plan. Thanks
Mine cannot sign up using existing starhub with no contract. Any one knows?
