yes subsequently is incremental.

Will still need to do the whatsapp one.

i personally will do whatsapp then icloud tbh
Ohh… ok thanks. I thought so too but I ask you all better. :o :s13:

Yeah I think do WhatsApp backup first then iCloud makes more sense. Aiya. I already did iCloud backup halfway liao (2 hours liao, and another 2 hours to go I guess).

Also, I think it is better to clear stuff on WhatsApp first before we do the WhatsApp backup? Like clear those boliao group chat multimedia that we don’t want. If not they will be brought together along to new phone later.

I never do WhatsApp Chat backup and iCloud backup before sia. :o :s13: Because I never subscribe to iCloud before to have the space to backup anything :o :s13: Today whole Saturday will be doing this. :s12:

Meanwhile, I’m setting up my iPhone 16 PM! Like it so far but quite heavy. :s13:

suggest practice before moving to any new device is to clean up the garbage on the old device first, delete all old backup and do a clean back up, before u restore on the new device.

that way u don't move nonsense stuff over. and ur backup is also "clean"

Yeah man. Lesson learnt. I actually thought it will backup and run pretty fast but no :s13:

Maybe also depends on the WIFI speed. I read on Reddit and YouTube and people say they use simi direct cable Ethernet so the speed for iCloud backup becomes much faster. :s13:

Nvm luckily I got time to spare these two days. Lmao. My only wish is for the WhatsApp migration to work seamlessly. Other stuff on phone still ok.

Haha. Yeah so sian. I think the fastest way to clear stuff and get more storage space is to delete apps with big app data. I found out I have a karaoke app the data is like 5GB! :s13: And those social media data and web browsing data can also delete.

hence the more cannot skimp on data protection

Thanks guys. :o

Current storage space on phone (ip 7) is about 3GB/128GB. :o :s13:

iCloud space subscribed to is 200GB.

WhatsApp app size is 11.3GB. (Eh I think maybe that’s why they say clear another 8GB+ if want to backup the videos as well. 3GB + 8GB = 11GB)

The phone is currently undergoing a iCloud backup, which already took two hours and probably takes another two hours to complete. Does this mean that each time I do a backup, it will take this long? Or is it because this is my first backup that’s why so long? :o

Also, does the above action include backing up all WhatsApp data? Or I need to do separately for WhatsApp?

Because iCloud backup means backing up the entire phone stuff right?

But on the other hand in WhatsApp, Setting > Chats > Chat Backup, got this Chat Backup button to select too. Then I can’t do this yet as I need to clear space to get 8GB more space. That’s why I do the iCloud backup first.
Yes, first time will take an incredibly long time. Thereafter, it will load a lot faster since already indexed.

iCloud backup in settings is for the entire device, while WhatsApp backup is for WhatsApp itself.
So better to do WhatsApp first then iCloud.

Ideally if you can clear useless stuff/games etc. first so the size shrinks down and helps you hasten the backup duration.

Guess what. The iCloud backup took me 5+ hours sia. :s13: Day to night :s13:

I haven’t backup WhatsApp, as I just cleared 10GB of space. Now can start liao but I damn tired. Maybe I let it run overnight. Who knows how long it takes :o :s13:

My WhatsApp still got a lot of rubbish multimedia like got simi ex ex ex stuff but I just move first.

Can redo iCloud backup thereafter, or it should auto run every night after your first instance of backup.

You keep using your phone while it backs up? Cause shouldn’t take so long especially for the size you have

Nope. I totally left the iPhone 7 alone while it was doing backup. I was using two other iPhones instead.

The iCloud backup performed was backing up about 2/3 of the entire iPhone 7 (about 75GB/128GB) and it took 5.5 hours.

Got a question, though it might sound silly but maybe I duno how iCloud exactly works hahaha :s13: :o

If I have WhatsApp on iPhone 7, and I also have WhatsApp on iPhone XR, when I do iCloud backup on iPhone 7, should I disable WhatsApp backup on iPhone XR to prevent a conflict?

The important data is the WhatsApp on iPhone 7, so iPhone XR WhatsApp doesn’t matter.

I scared if I do a backup for XR as well, then iCloud backup the WhatsApp for XR and override the WhatsApp data on iPhone 7. How does iCloud tell which is which.

Or it won’t happen at all? So it doesn’t matter if I enable backup on both WhatsApp. :o

Logged in to iCloud yday, they didn’t tell much what exactly they have backup-Ed.
