From Whatsapp with Singtel :(

"Sorry, every recontract now with existing ONT will be automatically changed to GPON ONR or if it's 5G or 10G plan it will be XGSPON ONR.

Also, we don't have 1Gbps Plan anymore it's obsolete.

Your current plan will still continue even if you don't recontract.

Currently, it's $40.65/mth once the contract ends you will be charge for the usual price of $53.89 per month."

Requested to be transferred to the retention dept to try my luck. Still waiting after 30 minutes.

Think maybe the CS forgot about me already.

Thanks for the updates. The first part of the reply is as expected. But apparently it is not from the retention department. So this is not conclusive yet.

If the CS forgets about you now, they may still contact you a bit later today, or tomorrow.

Let's be a bit patient here.

You can also try to call 1688 and ask to be transferred to the retention department.

Continued after 24Hrs...

"Hi there! This is XXX from Home Department. Apologies, we no longer provide ONT. All of our broadband plans come with ONR.

Unfortunately, we do not provide for recontract as well. For recontract, if it's 2gbps, we only provide wireless router/mesh. If it's 5/10gbps, then we provide XGSPON ONR (which supports 5/10gb network)."

So...ITE liao! Not sure if Home Dept is related to retention dept or not though.

Okay, I believe this is the final answer already. The Home Department is supposed to be related to the Retention Department.

So I guess it is the time for users who want to continue using Singtel ONT plus their own router to prepare to move out of Singtel.

For Singtel users who use Singtel ONT plus Singtel issued router, they should have no issues to upgrade to Singtel 2Gbps plan with ONR (or newer 3Gbps/5Gbps/10Gbps plan with XGS-PON ONR).

Thanks for sharing! Seems like ONR is inevitable.

During 2022 Dec, I recontract my 1G Fibre for 24 mth. Should be end by this mth.
When I check with Singtel whatsapp hotline, they told me my contract end at 2022, even I login singtel account. it also said so.
Seem like Singtel didnt have record that I had recontract at 2022.
Anyone come across this?

So you have been paying a higher subscription rate these 2 years? Or you actually forgot to re-contract?

When you recontract, you should receive the contract agreement via email then.

If you have been paying the higher subscription, you can use the contract the ask Singtel to refund you the difference. No saying they will definitely do it but you can try.

I did re-contract. I even have the contract agreement from 2022 to 2024 and paying $39.90 (now is $40.xx after GST increase). I even collect the new router. LOL

Thanks for the info. Gonna terminate my fibre home bundle with Singtel and move to another ISP that still has ONT option :)

I believe this is normal.

You were using an ONT, so they have configured this ZTE ZXHN F620 ONR in ONT mode for you, only LAN 1 is working and not the other LAN ports (LAN2/LAN3/LAN4). Since it is no longer an ONR and the ONR itself has no internet access, so the INTERNET LED is OFF.

This has been reported before. It seems to me Singtel has run out of the old ZTE ONT for some time and now they use the ZTE ZXHN F620 ONR configured in ONT mode for ONT replacement.

Reference: if the ZTE ZXHN F620 ONR is in ONR mode, then the internet light should be ON.
https://www.singtel.com/personal/support/broadband/routers-ont/zte-zxhn-f620

You can carry out an experiment to connect a PC to LAN 2 and it will not have internet access if the F620 is in ONT mode. The PC will have internet access if F620 ONR is configured in ONR mode.

Yes u r right
Today technician came down again for the 3rd time, haiz this singtel

Was revealed to me by the technician tat singtel will only send out their own technician at the 3rd visit, 1st and 2nd visit will be by contractor bloody hell

Been having frequent disconnection
(no internet) every few day after they change the onr to ont mode, and hav to call in multiple times over the last few week

Today the original singtel technician say they cant do tat (set onr to ont mode) wont last, when on/off simi profile will jump

Spend around 1hr+ at my place to diagnose the issue and configure the onr back to onr mode

Hope i dun experience any more disconnection

Next time u all need a technician at ur place, try to insist on a singtel technician, those contractors cmi la, no skill 1

Those bloody contractor just wanna in/out of ur place asap and report job done

I've been using Singtel Home Fibre (1GBPS) since Feb 2024 activation and it has been going well for the past 10 months until 21st Dec at around 6+pm, suddenly there was no internet access. Checked ONR (Huawei HG8240T5 model) and the PON LED became red suddenly! There wasn't any abnormal symptoms before 6pm+ and I was still happily watching Netfilx show until no internet access.

Called Singtel and waited, finally after 40mins managed to speak with CS and they arranged their contractor on 22nd Dec to come down and check.

The contractor came down (wearing red Singtel shirt), saw the PON LED is red, unplugged the fibre cable from ONR to his test equipment (fibre tester I assume), then changed to his own fibre cable, plugged one end to the fibre termination point and the other end to the same test equipment. After that he said my incoming fibre signal is weak, the level is about 60+ only (he didn't show me the number of his test equipment and I didn't ask to see as well). He took a picture of the reading on his equipment and say will escalate to NetLink Trust.

At this stage I'm still waiting for NetLink Trust to call me. I will call in today to jump q instead of being a sitting duck.

What I'm surprised is how can suddenly fibre signal became weak for no apparent reason and no abnormal symptoms was presented before internet access failed?!

Anyone experienced this or similar before please share your experience here.

1) If you re-contract, your ONT will be changed to a new ONR.
2) No idea. I stop checking at No 1.

1) Will need to change to ONR, cannot use ONT.
2) both mesh solutions are very lousy.

BTW, what is the price of your 2Gbps recontract offer? If it is S$39.90 then maybe considered not a bad offer if you don't mind using SingTel ONR.

Typical SingTel 2Gbps recontract offer is at S$37.90 to S$39.90 per month with one wireless router. If you can use Ethernet backhaul, the wireless coverage of two mesh nodes will be better than single node anyway.

Singtel offer me $39.26.mth. $1 cheaper then what i'm paying for 1Gbps ($40.65) lol
My existing mesh does not support wifi6. guess have to use theirs.

My concern is .. while waiting for Singtel technician to install the ONR. there will be a period when I'm using my 1Gbps setup for 2Gbps plan. will it have any issue?

This is my personal experience of upgrading from SingTel 1Gbps to 5 Gbps.

- ONT will be changed to ONR. No need to return the ONT.
- For the upgrade, SingTel will activate the second port on your Fiber Termination Point (FTP) in your home. This 2nd port will be used for your new plan.
- They promise no downtime during the upgrade (this is important to me as i work from home), but this is not true.
- On the actual day of the installation, before the SingTel installer comes, there will be a slight downtime where you have no internet - i suspect this is when they de-activate your existing port 1 and activate port 2 (but this is just my speculation).
- Once the installer arrives and connect the ONR, your internet will be restored. All in all, my downtime was less than 30 minutes (from the moment i lost internet and the installer arrives), but to be safe, i requested for an appointment after my working hours.

Same experience as my 1Gbps to 5Gbps upgrade.

But for 1Gbps (ONT user) to 2Gbps upgrade, the downtime will be less as there is no need to use a different FTP port. Just change the ONT to ONR.

For those who use the ONR already for Singtel 1Gbps plan, there should be no downtime as 2Gbps plan can use the same ONR.
