Which Asus router?

Typically you need to enable Singtel VLAN and usually LAN4 is for the old Singtel TV box (VLAN ID 20).

You can try to connect the new Android TV box to this LAN port to see if it works or not. If it works then the new Singtel Android TV box needs to use VLAN ID 20.

If not, connect it to the other LAN port and see if that works. If that works, that means the new Android TV box does not need VLAN ID 20.

I believe one of the above should work.

If that still does not work, then get an old Singtel issued router to see if that works. If that does not work, call Singtel for support. If that works, then that is strange and you may have to contact Asus for help (but I doubt they can support in that case).

Based on the user guide, I believe it should work with both Singtel ONT and Singtel ONR. But Singtel will not support 3rd party router like Asus.

Bros, i am not aware of about singtel tv box. I use starhub before and from the ont. One port go to the router the second port is for starhub tv box.
Could it also be the same with singtel

Anyone on singtel 1gbps fibre ONT with their own 3rd party router and changed to their new android box recently. I got my android box today but after installing, it cannot connect to my Asus router and says no ethernet connection.. called Singtel and after remote assistance, they say could be need to use singtel router…. They are sending a tech down tomorrow and will charge me $60+ if it is non-singtel fault…
ST's ONT -> RT-AX86U -> RT-AX86U's Port 4 -> Goes to your ST's Android Box

make sure you enable 'ISP Special Config (Singtel)'

if all fails, try to hard-reset your ASUS Router, and re-configure it again...

No this is in the case of the old fibre TV. Now android TV do not need that, just plug into any LAN port on the router will be ok.

I set up the Asus router for the old singtel tv box a few years ago. The old TV box ethernet cable was connected to LAN Port 4 on my Asus. So when the Singpost man delivered the android box and took back the old singtel STB, i just connected the power supply and did a straight swop of the hdmi and ethernet cable end. I could connect via wifi to stream disney+ on the new singtel android box but just cannot get a ethernet connection for the mio tv set up to work.
Try to connect the TV box to LAN 1 of the ASUS Router to see whether it is ok.

Thank bros, i have not been using tv box for many years already.
With smart google tv i can alway sideload a powerful apk from github and load my own iptv.
Much better than most tv box in term of quality and quantity

of course better as the app is built in the TV. For Starhub, can use Samsung TV Too.

This was for my in-laws place. There were already on StarHub Homehub.

I subscribed to Singtel TV and asked for the Android box. It is purely Singtel TV and nothing else from Singtel. So Singtel took up the other port on the FTP as the first was used by StarHub. The setup by Singtel was FTP other port -> Singtel ONT -> Singtel Android box.

When all was well with Singtel TV via the Android box, I terminated all of Starhub services. So now it is just FTP-> Singtel ONT-> Singtel Android box as already mentioned.

The use of App make it more flexible for user.

I regret not signing up early .now I am stuck with starhub.they told me I can hold to the fibre tv box for as long as I can but if the tv box break down , they will not have replacement box for me as they don't support anymore.
Planning to switch to singtel tv but they also change to Android box now so no point switching now.think all these telcos wanna save cost by forcing consumers to use Android box instead of traditional tv boxes ..
Why you all don’t use smart tv or Apple TV where you can song song sign up anything? Aiyo! Netflix, Apple, Disney create good technology but you want to let local company insert a pole on your back door.

It is just a matter of time that both will complete do away the old TV box say within 2-3 years. Fibre TV box is using other server which cost more. One day they will sure terminate the service of the old server.

No you are wrong, Starhub TV Pass also can watch directly from TV and it is cheaper to buy from SH compared from buying from App. Netflix premium also can use the Netflix App on TV to watch too, so is the other Apps. The App are given free when we buy Starhub Homehub. Since we buy internet from them, may as well get the TV contents from them at cheaper price. For example, Max is $9 with 24 months contract. Cantonese Pack $5 with TVB Live Channel and VOD and TVB anywhere App. It is all about saving cost. A good example is Homehub Ultra Speed 10G at $88.70 and still gave out Sports and Premier. Some people old TV still working so just use a TV box via HDMI.

Thanks for all Bros advice. The ST tech came and solved the issue. He activated "forget my wifi" and turned off wifi on the android box and reset the android box and after that Singtel TV can work, He said the android box cannot work properly with Singtel TV when its wifi is turned on. He confirmed that if use 3rd party router, only LAN 4 port can work for Singtel TV.

I tried but my parents find it hard to navigate the smarter apps and like the Taiwanese dramas from Singtel TV. Parents are happy so my life is happy too haha.

So use LAN or wifi la. Use LAN port 4 of ASUS router. Must need time to slowly get used to it, then ok.

$88.70 is including internet 10G, your TV box can provide 10G internet connection? Such TV box you mentioned i also know. Actually i know many who are selling it and they advised me not to buy it. My friend told me that he also never use it himself. The box is using old os like Android 8 and no more patches so lots of security issue. If such box can be good then the original one would have closed shop long ago said my friend. Those who know the box well will not use it and if got into trouble of copy right, we can lost our job as we are professional people. My friend say it will keep lagging and blur image and after sometime some live channels will not work. Now one of his shops also closed down. 20 years ago already have such box and till today still same same price and very poor business.

You are right. Actually I don’t watch football nor simi TVB. Knowing StarHub (from the old days), I rather pay $6 to Netflix than to pay $4 to StarHub. lol! Today if my wife and I are free, we will watch amdk channel like Netflix, Disney and the PRC channels (wetv etc). All pay direct to them.
