If you guys are not that savvy and are hoping to get onsite support from time to time, maybe best to stick to other BBs with good CS. Since activation I have never faced any issues tho we do see some users facing downtime intermittently. I actually face more issues with their Simba mobile line lol.
Not say not savvy but if got 0 support, how we troubleshoot?

So if I paid for the chargeable option, ont installation, still they activate on the appointed day, they do it successfully, next day sent invoice of $1, nobody come install anything mean I still using old ONT device , is it right to conclude I paid extra for nothing?

Your existing ONT will continue to work until you cancel it.

Also, can share what is the $1 invoice about?

I think it like the rest where after the activation is done, they will sent you invoice of $1 in the following day. Correct me if I wrong , because I not sure for the rest do they sent the invoice only if they can done the installation in the working day that follow after the activation. Because my case they haven't done the installation, yet they sent invoice already.

Hi all,

Just wanna check if anyone managed to connect directly to the FTP port and bypass the ONT using RT-BE88U router sfp + connection? Manage to find via youtube channel (user openrouter) and I think it is possible.

If yes, may I know if anyone can assist to supply or confirm the following info if possible?

a) the type of transceiver that is supported for this bypass

b) reputable taobao link selling this fibre transceiver (or RJ45) and RT-BE88U

c) if I will to use one of the 2.5G link port from the router as a WAN, I can use the 10G RJ45 port (not sfp+) as a LAN and the output is 10GB?

Many thanks for your input and much appreciated. Looking at trying out Simba BB (since 12 months only) if workable.

Nobody has the successful story to replace the XGS-PON ONR/ONT (of any ISPs) with an XGS-PON ONU (or ONU Stick) in this forum. There are many success stories to replace Singtel/WC GPON ONR with a GPON ONU (or ONU Stick) in this forum.

For Option C, your WAN speed is limited to 2.5Gbps.

Your only option is to go with VQ 10Gbps plan which provides the Huawei XGS-PON ONT stick at S$99 top-up.

Or you can go with WC 2.5Gbps plan where you get the GPON ONR. Then get an ONU or ONU stick to replace the WC ONR.

Aww man. Just had Netlink technician come here and confirm Simba signal is ok after signing up for their 10G service.

Then he leaves and I plug in ONT and red blinking light LOS.(ie loss of signal). Of course, Simba has no call line service, have to email and wait. Tried power cycle and reconnection of fibre cable multiple times. No good. Its likely a faulty ONT or cable I can only guess.

Luckily I did not yet cancel my Singtel 1Gbs plan yet. But I still want to cry.

Guess have to wait and wait for Simba to respond. I will miss Singtel helpline.

Mine was already working a day before the NLT guy turn up.

Anyway, you are supposed to connect the ONT to start using the internet AFTER you receive an email confirming your NLT appointment is complete.

this simba.. really no support.

supposed to have NLT appointment today and waited for the whole day, no one turned up.
out of curious, i go and install the modem and viola. it worked..
asking for money, also very fast.
once my broadband is turned on, simba sent me the invoice.

so far, so good.
Hi, you mean you collect the ONT and install yourself and it works? If so, what operator you use before this? Need to return the ONT to the previous operator?

Thanks, though I cannot find a reference to such email, however they do state this on the appointment email:

"Please note that the completion of the entire Fibre Broadband Service Activation process could take up to 6 hours beyond the installation time shown above."

So maybe I am jumping the gun. Lets see.

yes, I collected the ONT and installed myself. Its not hard to install. ;)

As mentioned I retained my Singtel service on a rolling month by month. When I am satisfied that Simba is delivering properly I will cancel my Singtel service and yes I will need to return their equipment.

I collected the Simba Router on Sunday and activated the broadband service on December 19. This morning, I connected it by myself without changing the configuration of my original router, which is set to Access Point mode. The connection works if only one PC is connected. However, when another desktop is turned on and connected to my Asus router, the connection only works on one desktop at a time.

Originally, I was using WhizComms 300 Mbps with an ONR setup. Therefore, I need to change my router's setting from "Access Point" mode to "Wireless Router" mode for the internet to work properly, including enabling my phone to connect to Wi-Fi. Now it is all connected. =)

Therefore, those wishing to subscribe to Simba Broadband, especially users on Singtel or WhizComms with an ONR device, should take note of this.

Yes, because with the ONT that Simba supplies you also need to have a device that can act as a DHCP server. This is what you activated when you changed the mode of your original router. Before that your DCHP service was provided by your ONR.

Actually this can be naughty trick by Simba to those not technically inclined by advertising a rock bottom priced 10Gbs plan. I think many people don't have a 10Gbs router that is needed with Simba's ONT. People then have to go to Simba and buy their Eero 7 max router which is priced at $399. They then realise that other plans ie from Singtel which provide the 10Gbs router , albeit at a higher monthly instalment cost are not such bad deals after all.

Yup, I am not going to buy the Eero router, I may ponder to go for Asus AX53U or BE58U router.
