Credit card interest very sticky. This is where the bank makes a lot of money.

I was told by financial advisor that even if a person died, banks won't stop charging interest and won't waive the interest. The estate still have to pay.

So one of the first thing executors need to do is to find out which credit card bills and pay up quickly.

1st month after applying giro usually have to manual pay first. Only 2nd month onwards then giro kicks in, if giro is approved. If in doubt always call the bank to check first.

Agree. I would call the bank to check if the new giro is already in place.

If he had called HSBC to check, he would have found out there is no giro arrangement (DDA) for his POSB credit card and go ahead to make manual payment. Can save a lot of headache and trouble now.

In case of doubt, I would pay up first. If there is double payment, DBS CSO say they can refund the excess to savings account.

exactly! that's what I would do too.
No point risking it just for 1% giro cashback. Not worth the trouble

I was informed by CSO thru a call. Again better to call or chat with them again to clarify cos the CSO also mentioned to me that Jan EGA will not qualify if I previously enrolled in Nov EGA.....Since I did not qualify for BTL, then I just enrol in the normal EGA.

the DBS bank CSO advised to deposit money in Both EGA accounts since it's unsure the deduction will take place on which account, hence I did ,

then in the end did not go thru for Both accounts , so I dun think that's my fault, coz we hv alr discussed on the measures to take prior due date

If one wants to pay by cash then go thru all the hassle set up the Giro for wat

Did the cso say which part of the tnc states if you enrolled in Nov EGA then wont be eligible for Jan EGA?

not that i know of, but several days after my joint registration still not captured according to cso

the new T&C for EGA and system capture dont reconcile. By right SMS now will auto register all the single and joint, but apparently system is not up to date and only single account is tagged to the EGA bonus promo for Jan-Feb. Those who SMS in better confirm the account tagging in writing instead of assuming registration

Seeing thread becomes so active gives me the deja vu vibe

HSBC change management of TNC is still the same low quality.

Having an extension month for BTL custimers concurrent with new TNC introduction is confusing for their staff and customers.
Hardly a day elapsed and they already make changes to their SMS acknowledgement message plus modifying their new TNC.

Clarity should emerge mid next week and hopefully all will be on the same page.

Their IT backend system is rather archaic ... even if they can make the front end app on your phones good...

To be safe, how about sending another registration sms for the joint account as well to ensure it gets registered?
