What is reason other than faster internet speed. I also on M1 500Mbps, contract expiring next month 23 Feb 2025.
Thinking of recontract to M1 2.5Gbps $39.90/mth as well or will just stick to the current 500Mbps $30.45/mth.

500 mbps can have sluggish speed behavior if you have smart home a day 3-4 pax users at home

If upgrade to M1 2.5gbps, is there any real benefits on getting a WiFi 7 router?
Or can continue to use existing WiFi 6 router that come with 2.5G WAN port?

Highly doubt it unless you have very heavy downloads or uploads. Check your actual utilisation and you'll realise you would barely even cross 100Mbps on average per device, even if you're streaming 4K content.

I called M1 and asked what is the plan subscription price if I stayed on my 500mbps plan after contract expired, they say it will remain the same.

Can anyone confirm this is the case?

that is dependent of things you do ... some torrent download and other concurrent usage etc in evening with few pax people at home will impact .. not sure about your usage varies from people

True that...for typical household use case, we really do not use much bandwidth at the same time. last time used to be infrastructure lagging but now is usage volume is lagging...

if you dont have wifi7 devices you can stick with wifi 6 routers which is still fine

For ease of switching router, do you guys keep the same SSID (Wifi name and password)? So existing devices can just connect back smoothly.
Does it work that way?

yes it works tried few times, my smart devices will detect automatically only the odd 1-2 devices that requires 2.4ghz and works with WPA2 only

Well for my usage, basically 2 to 3 users browsing/email/IPTV streaming and 3 Android TV Boxes and 1 Cam.
So far serve me well without problem and very likely will stay with this 500Mbps $30.45 plan after contract finish instead of paying additional $9+/mth recontract to 2.5Gbps plan.

Well, i did that, so far no problem.
Even during CNY, visitors connection also no problem, unless they "forget this network" on their device.
But I always stick to Asus router..

Hi guys, I am a M1 broadband user and using the standard Huawei ONT M1 installed for me years ago.
The ONT has 4 Ethernet receptacles but when I plug into the empty ones that I'm not currently using nothing seems to happen. no internet comes out from those. Can I check if anyone knows if only one of the ports in the ONT works? Do I need an extra network switch if I want an Ethernet point from the ONT?

i am on M1 2.5 gb plan now from 500 mbps plan for few years before, though I am paying a bit more i think is fine...

It is like mobile plan $7-$10 you get 200gb data, why live in the past ? 500mbps is a little dated my 2 cents ..

500 mbps for $30.45 is not really cheap , now i find the current 5gb SH plan $29.xx is more "ideal" price and affordable..

ya I was looking at SH 5Gbps $29.xx plan previously but after factor in SH charging Home line $2.14/mth and one time activation fee $21.60, will be paying higher than now. Furthermore, all my phone pc laptop and IoT devices do not benefit much with faster internet speed. Maybe not now but few months' times will look at ISPs BB offer again as no longer tie down by contract can switch any time.

ONT only port 1 working. Meant to connect port 1 to your wireless router WAN port.

Other ports, as you have found out, does not work.

If you need more ports using switch, you need to connect it to the Lan port of your wireless router to get internet.

You cannot connect port 1 of ONT to switch and get internet in every ports of the switch.

Only 1 port in the switch, the one that connects to a device first, will have internet.

ONT do not have router function. Are you not using a wireless router too?

Great. because it was troublesome to reconnect all my devices which uses 2.4ghz e.g. vacuum robot, bluetooth speaker, purifier etc. :ROFLMAO:

Did you encounter any particular issue when setting up BE7000 with m1 2.5gbps network? Can use the Xiaomi App (mainland china) only to setup? or better to use the webpage?

Be7000 can only use xiaomi home app or ip via browsers. The app will not work. There is no ssues easy to set up .

Detect the router once plugin then setup wifi ssid and relogin to change admin pw and some onfig. You can find videos how to setup easily
