Really a lot of people around me who migrated overseas come back to Singapore.

There also those with stock options. Several million.
We do "know" some rich doesn't spend time in S'pore -- no need look further - Shou Zi Chew

I also knew a GM of amdk automobile (incidentally spouse is a malaysian - can refer to my comments on Malaysian Chinese), he is way beyond 2 decades out of S'pore....

He will say he living in SG. Pay SG tax.

if he got no US PR, he dont need worli paying tax to unker sam mah

but if his got US PR also easy lah, just make Coy pay him max of 120k USD/year in SG, so he can declare and pay tax in SG w/o paying tax to unker sam since first 120k USD earned overseas is not taxable

anything above that, give stocks loh. u dont pay tax for stocks unless u sell

then if need $$ just take bank $$ loan and borrow against the stocks

at most pay 2%~4% interest nia base on his background/networth

loophole many many, no need worli in life rah

I would infer what Bill Gates said this week: We've given away $100bn, but my children won't be poor when I'm gone

In S'pore, ALL will received the opportunity to high quality education compared to most asians country -- whether we stay put or go overseas. - That is the Oyster. The outcome of our adventure depends on individual decision.

Give an example: When I just graduated, I was burdened to pay back my student loan, at the same time save up wedding & housing loan... yet some of my peers went on to buy a car (maybe not under burden of loan )... so I would consider your perspective applies be it in S'pore or Overseas. The World (S'pore or Elsewhere) is my Oyster -- it really depends what you want in life.

Having SG citizenship doesn't necessary mean he stays long term in SG. As he is a salaried worker (or getting stock options), he pay taxes in the country of hire.

When I refer stabilizing long term stay overseas, may or may not involve citizenship decision. Just as S'pore news term local residents, not necessary mean pr or citizens

SG is the best.

There is no good reason why anyone would give up SG citizenship. This is what I have been telling everyone.

You guys are very lucky to be born in SG or have SG citizenship.

Wow! Mervyn is indeed smart! 👍😉 Two of my friends worked in America for couple of years. Upon returning to Singapore, the higher level director did not apply for a green card throughout and the middle level manager gotten a green card. So I asked the middle level manager didn't he subjected to double taxation working in Singapore. He told me his annual income below $120K USD limit... Guess he won't be asking his boss for a raise for a long time... until he gives up his green card...😅 Maybe now I know why his position is pretty safe from retrenchment... These people are really smart.
