Because everyone in SG is obsessed with money and wealth. It is the ultimate goal to be rich and wealthy

Also SGreans have an ownself care ownself mentality. In fact SGrean pwn SGreans is also a thing. Only when SG is attacked by foreign elements then they stand United. And it is GOOD that it gets challenged by their hostile neighbors every so now and then. Gives balance. From within pwn one another. Externally make them United.

Canada now having some of that external challenge and Quebec even talking about letting build pipeline from West to East. All this while when peaceful and America friendly Canada fight from within. It has so many inter provincial trade barriers. Crazy.

SGreans care about wealth and riches. They dont get jealous of rich people. They push themselves to be them

Eventually in the future the richest people in the world will all be SGreans. I said that like 10 years ago.

if you want to be on the other side , set your expectations lower so you wont be demoralized and give up. you cannot not compare what you had gone thru in Singapore to what you are experiencing on the other side , many things are not a apple to apple comparison.

Keep an open mind thats all i will say.

Maids are there to help due to 2 parents working . They are not left with much time to do household chores + take care of children.

In the 70s and 80s are maids needed in families ??

In Aussie it’s possible for 1 px to be working and the other to take care of children , just like what amran is doing ?

I have lived in Perth for over 40 years, the Singaporeans and Malaysians I know through social circles and work are happy to stay here or other parts of Australia. In fact more of their family are moving here.

There are pros and cons of both places and there is no singular choice that is right for everyone. Depends how you weight your values.

80s for sure need maid.

In fact I think maid is the reason why work hours are so long in SG. Back in the 70s people don't work so long hours. Parents got reason to go home. Cannot stay late. Got kids. Need to go pick them from school. Prepare dinner.

But LKY say bring in maids. So boss get maid. No need go home so early. Then boss set time for meeting after work 6pm. Staff say boss how can I need to go home pick kids and prepare dinner. Boss say now got maid why you dont go hire maid? So meetings at 7pm. Don't attend meeting? Don't promote. Get retrenched also can.

So everyone work like mad till late at night. Cos got maid. Hence your phrase "not left with much time to do household chores + take care of children". That is BECAUSE of the maid policy. No excuse where you prioritize kids and family. Cos.......got maid to take care of them.

SGreans don't ever think how this evolved eh?
