I am not into gaming at all but just take note it will depend on the gaming servers as well. SingTel may be bad for quite some gaming servers but may actually be better for some other servers, as per the reports. But it could be SingTel is worse than M1/Starhub for more gaming servers.

Personally I care about latency to China and apparently SingTel is better than M1 and Starhub in most cases when it comes to China servers. M1 seems to be particularly bad. MR Gamer Plan is the best for China based on the reports.

ask to speak to manager, else request to terminate contract. Or esclate to IMDA. You got black n white, with contract. You scare what.

I've escalated issues before, singtel will always resolve it if it's their fault.

Where do you guys see you can get HB611? From the 5gbps recontract link I only see it says WiFi 6 AX5400 mesh

Singtel claims it is a system error that some users got free HB611-SGST stated in their contract, despite the fact that the website offer only mentions WiFi 6 AX5400 device for the S$29.90 per month Singtel 5Gbps recontract offer.

So far only one user cstanhwz managed to get the HB611-SGST.

Can some kind soul please confirm if SingTel HB611 allows changing DNS or is the setting locked by ST firmware?

I heard that the VPN settings are not available and guess we will also not get DoH or DoT ever.

I do not have this one but I have Starhub issued HB710. Can change DNS. No DoT/DoH. No VPN client functions. No Wireguard VPN functions. Got OpenVPN server function.

Most likely Singtel issued HB810 and HB611-SGST will be similar.

BTW, SingTel does provide FW download links for HB810 and HB611-SGST on SingTel website. So technically they can be used by other ISP users. But I will recommend not to do that as the price is not cheap.

my contract is due next month and I tried to recontract 5 Gbps @ 29.99 and SingTel rejected my application, citing ‘not eligible for this scheme’.

how did the other users managed to get through? Can share?

could it be because SingTel offered me via letter 3 Gbps @ 39.99 that’s why they don’t want to gimme 5 GBPs @ 29.99?

You are the second one who reported here that the order for 5Gbps recontract offer at S$29.99 per month got rejected. Others just clicked the link and they could get the offer.

What is your current plan and when will your current contract expire? Have you finished 21 months of existing contract?

You may want to wait for the contract nearly expire and then click the link (if the link is still valid then). One of my colleague got it through recently without receiving any SMS/Email offer. His 1Gbps plan contract already expired at the time.

Im currently on ST 1 Gbps expiring mar 2025 so I definitely fulfilled min 21 months.

I see. In that case, maybe you are right that the existing 3Gbps targeted offer may be the reason.

I will still suggest you try to click the link again in March.

If not there are better offers from M1 and Starhub, if you are willing to leave SingTel.

Can I ask if it is possible to mesh HB611 with Deco BE85? Thinking of buying a BE85 instead of a HB810.

No. HB611-SGST uses TP-Link EasyMesh which is not compatible with TP-Link Deco Mesh. Deco Mesh is more mature and a better mesh solution than TP-Link EasyMesh as of now.

If you are willing to pay, a pair of Deco BE85 is better than a pair of HB810 as a mesh solution.

Ah got it. Thanks!! Then i think i will prolly get a HB810 to leverage on the existing HB611 that i have. Makes more sense from a cost point of view.

Which router is good for 5gbps if I do not want to use WiFi 6 AX5400?

From SingTel side only HB810.

Cheaper ones:
1) HB710 from Starhub at S$192 (I bought one for use with my Starhub 5Gbps plan)

2) Archer BE805 dumped by M1 users at around S$300 or even lower (I bought one at S$300 and use with my SingTel 5Gbps plan)

3) Asus ZenWiFi BT10 dumped by M1 users, two-pack at around S$750+ and may drop further soon.

Just to update, I WA ST CS earlier on my ineligibility to sign up for the 5 Gbps @ 29.90 and guess what, ST is willing to offer me 3 Gbps @ 29.90 + Wifi7 Router (I assume is HB610). Although its lower than initial price (39.90), but I assume SH latest promotion still win? (5 Gbps @ 29.55 + HB710)
