Got rejected despite being out of contract for 10yr, weird they need to gatekeep it

Indeed this kind of "targeted offer" is kind of arbitrary. Some users got approved and some got rejected.

There are two links, you can try your luck with another link.

Or try your negotiation power and talk to SingTel to see if they can revert the decision.

How far away are you from contract expire date? You may get better chance if less than one month or two weeks.

My Singtel Fibre Broadband 1 Gbps is down from about 4:30pm today. It seems that there are other people having the same issue in West and North parts of Singapore (on reddit r/askSingapore).

Never offer you any other promotion?
Probably the usual lousy $40 recontract deals or 3gbps without the additional freebie that anybody can get, over the last few days.
Though, they finally folded and gave in today with something extra and also HB611.

Hopefully no last min rug pull and for them to offload their old nearing e-waste hardware.

Did ppl have to wait long for Installation date?

Yes.. but its not truly official until they installed it.
Though, I rather they start the countdown first before the service even come up so I can start paying less.

Yup, see if they bring the HB611 on the installation day!

Hello Experts!

Singtel has came over to help install my 3gbps plan with TP Link HB611 router. Currently my existing house has a ceiling mounted UniFi access point (not wifi 7).

Advisable to change the a wifi 7 one? Which one to recommend as well may I ask.

Thank you

If you like UniFi, they have a WiFi 7 AP also.

What's your current AP?

In general, do look at the devices that you will be connecting to the AP. There are a few devices that could take advantage of the 320MHz 6GHz band, but do expect most to connect in the 1Gbps range.

If that's the use case in your home, the U7 Pro would be good enough. I'm currently running the U7 Pro Max, and there hasn't been anything to saturate the 5Gbps plan that I have. The main limitation would still be the 2.5Gbe link on the U7 Pro (and Pro Max).

If you do want future proofing, the new U7 Pro XG would be a good candidate given that it has 10Gbps port onboard.

thanks for your comment. Im using UniFi nanohd (this is a wifi 5 ap?) worth to upgrade to the u7 pro despite I’m using iPhone 14 Pro Max and won’t be able to connect to the 6Ghz band. But my wife phone is able to though.
But looking at if I’m not connecting to the 6Ghz band, will it be a great improvement to upgrade ?

Personally, I think moving to WiFi 7 has showed the greatest jump in WiFi speeds for me.

I previously had the FlexHD and the U6 Mesh (same form factor but the former was WiFi 5 and the latter was WiFi 6). The move between WiFi 5 and WiFi 6 was incremental with WiFi speeds remaining well below Gigabit speeds. I think the jump was from 400-600 on WiFi 5 to 500-700 on WiFi 6.

Now that I’m on the U7 Pro Max, my iPhone 16 Pro Max consistently receives about 1.3-1.4 Gbps (within line of sight with the access point), as does my iPhone 15 Pro Max (on WiFi 6E). WiFi 6 devices have seen a jump in speeds as well, usually up to 700Mbps (within line of sight with the access point).

Given that WiFi 7 also improves on the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands as well, I personally feel that it is worth it to make the jump to WiFi 7 access points now. Just be mindful of what speeds you might want in the future and the limitations that the U7 Pro/Pro Max have on their uplink ports.

In fact, I think maybe moving to the U7 XG might be a better value proposition given that the XG/XGS comes with a 10Gbe link, which would be fantastic for future proofing your WiFi when you do decide to move to higher speeds.

Thank you for your valuable comment!

Well, I remember seeing somewhere that, if my house is not on main UniFi products, I can have a option to choose between other AP (wifi 7). Example, TP-Link Access Point.

Given my situation, my main router is the HB611 from TP-link, was thinking if I should use back UniFi AP or change it to other brands. Do you have any comments to share on that?

Thanks!
