Wah, that is super Fast..
i still waiting for my Malaysia CIMB account details and stuff.
They mention 2 weeks, so this week by Friday will be the 2nd week.

Waiting waiting.. lol
Why did you choose CIMB instead of walking into OCBC MY to avoid the wait? How are the fees for CIMB? I believe OCBC has a transfer fee, is that correct?

Singaporeans can open OCBC MY.
No need Malaysian number / address
They will issue you 360 Account
Remember bring NRIC + passport need both, and need to stamp 30 days visa (no egate!)
Also 500rm initial deposit, put in CDM to activate acc.
RM 8 annual fee for card.
Application must be in MY or SG for OCBC bank?

You can go search for my posts in this thread. Yes OCBC charges fees, CIMB doesnt. Overall CIMB is better exchange rates, very quick, dont actually need to go JB to apply, just need to spend a bit of money to do IDD calling to activate card and account, less than 2 minutes settled.

1st. i do not have a local OCBC account. + as i read from thread which was mention by @commandowolf that OCBC charges fees and exchange rate not as good.

2nd. I pretty much prefer ease of everything than going in malaysia and bang here and there. My Malayu cannot make it. I faces alot issue when their english not there + your malayu not there..

i have a Maybank SG account. i did try to get a Maybank MY account.. but sadly too little info and the hotline not helping..

Any idea about UOB?
No idea of other bank like UOB etc.
I just go with flow which many here have proved it work and easiest..

To me MY account is for ease of usage and speeding when in there.
Not an account for me to do saving etc..
i dont bother with other huge name bank.. Go with the MY Local bank is the best which in my opinion is Maybank or CIMB.

CIMB FTW

I have CIMB SG & MY.

The only con is CIMB SG only has 1 branch in SG which is in Raffles Place, but you probably only need to go down once, max twice.

They are also open on Saturday 1/2 day 9am to 1pm for the weekday work folks.

Anyone successfully opened a MALAYSIA Standard Chartered account ?

For Singaporean with Singapore address and mobile number only, can it be done ?

Can we ask the Singapore Stand Chart to help us open account , or we need to go to Malaysia to open ?

Must I open a google account with a Malaysia IP before I can do that?

Can I ask those veterans with CIMB SG-MY, if there’s any annual fee (or fall below fee) besides the RM20 for debit card? Is this RM20 a one time fee? Can I forgo the Malaysian CIMB debit card? I can withdraw fee-free using Revolut/Youtrip/Wise. I primarily want to use CIMB MY account to fund my TnG account only now that there’s an additional 1% fee for Revolut top-up. I spent around RM20K ish last year using TnG so it works out to be about RM200 in fees. I just want to know if the CIMB MY account/card fees is less than RM200 annually. And also to future proof in the event TnG raise their top-up fees again.

Anyone has experience with RHB or Maybank exchange rate for such cross border accounts?

IIRC debit card is part of the application process at CIMB SG when they help us to file for MY account. Can check with them if you can opt out.

For CIMB MY, the debit card is RM20 annually... I don't know if can cancel

if primary is just to fund TnG, then youtrip/wise can already do so, unless the CIMB SG to CIMB MY has free transfer with good rates....

One thing to note is that some establishments have DuitNow QR code only, that I used my TnG to make payments.

However, I recently came across DuitNow codes that don't accept TnG, so I'd to use my CIMB MY app to pay.

One makan place even had 2 codes, with only the partially hidden one accepting TnG payments.

IIRC debit card is part of the application process at CIMB SG when they help us to file for MY account. Can check with them if you can opt out.

Can I clarify, are you saying CIMB SG to CIMB MY isn’t free transfer? The rates are not good?

Yes I understand, I’ve been using Revolut since before COVID to top up my TnG e wallet, recently got charged 1%, so wanted to find a cheaper way to fund it. This same 1% applies to YouTrip and Wise card top up.

I have tried WISE and DASH using the remittance function and these are the charges.
