Can I clarify, are you saying CIMB SG to CIMB MY isn’t free transfer? The rates are not good?

Yes I understand, I’ve been using Revolut since before COVID to top up my TnG e wallet, recently got charged 1%, so wanted to find a cheaper way to fund it. This same 1% applies to YouTrip and Wise card top up.

I have tried WISE and DASH using the remittance function and these are the charges.

No, I don't know CIMB SG to CIMB MY fees. But from what I know, generally the exchange rates of banks are not as good as youtrip/wise etc. So I just thought if there's a fee, then it may come up similar to youtrip/wise transfer. As you've shown, the transfer is definitely less than 1% compared with topup using card. I have checked with youtrip and transfer of SGD1000 is fee of SGD3.26 ... you can do the maths

I see, so you only have the Malaysian CIMB account with debit card, that’s why you don’t know of the exchange rate, sorry it’s my fault of assuming. From reading this thread and using CIMB SG to MY BACK IN 2019, their exchange rate is very very good. That’s why I’m only enquiring on the fees involved with maintaining the two CIMB accounts.

Can I clarify again, what do you mean by Youtrip transfer of $1000? Are you talking about transferring from Youtrip account to Touch n Go e wallet?

Ok I didn't know about the very very good rates between CIMB SG & MY, so that's on me for the assuming 😅

Well, from Youtrip app, you can transfer to a MY bank account or Duitnow account, of which a TnG ewallet is. I key in 1000SGD and it shows the rates like what you showed for Wise.

I have tried but the transfer doesn’t work. Youtrip transfer only works for Malaysian bank account and Duitnow account, my Touch n Go account is purely a touch and go account, no Duitnow, I guess because I’m Singaporean? I’ve tried adding my Touch and go account to Youtrip but failed every time- I’ve used mobile number and passport number, both failed because they are not Duitnow ID according to that reason given.

As for the WISE screenshot I posted, it’s not the same coz I’ve already successfully added my touch and go account to my Wise app before I tried doing the transfer. Once again, it’s a touch and go account, not Duitnow, same goes for Dash. The Youtrip page you tried is just a check our rates feature of the Youtrip app, no account added. I don’t mind using get Youtrip transfer as it works out to be only 0.3% but sad to say, Youtrip only accepts transfer to Duitnow account and not touch and go account, and my touch and go wallet is the latter.

Isn't the app CIMB OCTO now? I could see last year's transactions, that's why I knew RM15 was charged.

It doesn't state which transaction is payment for the Debit Card annual fee, I can't tell...

Can you recall which month is your "anniversary"?

Mine is listed as Debit Card Fee RM15, but I noticed from the app that the transaction history is only until April 2024 while I started using OCTO way before that.

Could be a limitation of how much of the history it can show...?

Yes, thanks for the link but I’ve watched the YouTube tutorial yesterday and it doesn’t work.

It only works for Malaysian bank app (and dash and wise), but not Youtrip.

If you have personally tried adding your touch n go ewallet account to Youtrip you’ll know what I mean. Youtrip doesn’t have the Duitnow account number option. See my screenshot below.

I have "setup transfer" but didn't actually do the transfer (since I didn't need to)
I chose the passport option and key in my pp no and it was accepted (my tng ewallet was verified using pp long time ago)

If this works for you, pls feedback if the actual transfer works :)

Dunno if can opt out the card. best to check with the bank..

For me, 15rm per year, just keep. anytime i wanna withdraw rm from malaysia ATM also easy..

So far, the exchange rate from CIMB SG to CIMB MY rate are pretty same as Instaram.
I just did a quick check now.
CIMB SG to CIMB MY = 3.353
Instarem convert to MYR = 3.358

Still cannot add on the YouTrip app. I registered my TnG account using my Singapore passport. Cannot link.

Just to share, only CIMB and RHB can open respective bank Malaysian account in Singapore. Maybank called back and said they don’t have such facility at the moment.

Maybank have but you need Letter of invitation from SG main branch then you can bring that letter to go Malaysia side then bank.

How you get the letter it depends on the amount you put inside your account and your relationship with your RM
