Analysts predicted the ground swell; either way it will expand either northward or westward from Sengkang for WP. Notice many WP candiates and eben PAP made speeches in Teochew means something. Hougang to Yip Chu Kang majority Teochew enclaves.

If luck is on WP's side either they kicked out 3 ministers or a useless monkey
If you look at history, you will know that the Teochews have a beef with the PAP

Punggol has many new citizens also. Heard some of the condo there is non local born citizens. Not sure will tilt the needle even further in favour of PAP.

But the younger families should be similar to SK. Check and balance and alternative voice are important consideration.

transient residents or citizens first; heard a lot if rentals there because of the new business park. Many units rented out for side income

SINGAPORE: CNA has reported that Prime Minister Lawrence Wong left the nomination centre today (April 23) “unexpectedly,” without speaking to the press, in a departure from convention.

The PM, who will be defending his Marsiling-Yew Tee ward, reiterated the People’s Action Party’s (PAP) stance that this election is a critical one when he delivered his balcony speech after nominations.

He said, “We are in a changed world with turbulence all around. So there is much at stake in this election. Your votes will determine your future and your children’s future.”

According to CNA, the PM “unexpectedly walked past without stopping and did not address the media” after the speech while the press was interviewing another PAP team.

PM Wong’s teammate, Senior Minister of State Zaqy Mohamad, apparently explained to the press that Mr Wong left without stopping for the media as “the prime minister has a national campaign to run.”

This election, which will take place on May 3, is widely expected to be a referendum on PM Wong and his team of PAP fourth-generation leaders. It is the first election held since Mr Wong became Singapore’s premier, and all eyes are watching to see how well his team will perform and whether he will receive a resounding mandate from voters.

Chiu confident WP can win against this team where 3 of the MP has been around for decades?

Not forgetting this is the first time WP is contesting in Punggol GRC, whereas SDA desmond has alway been contesting in this area
Where is this SDA Desmond

The team WP put out is a strong one. They have every chance to win.

Look at their speeches at the nomination centre. Certainly wont lose as well. Qualifications all there also.

Now just need to see if Hapreet get enough fanfare this 7 days

Punggol have new citizen from HK, Philippines, China, India, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and moreover there a global Indian school there hence the chances of winning is 50-50 if you were to ask me

There is a reason why PAP put a DPM and a pretty face there. They knew Punggol is high risk. The voters are not your ah ma ah pek amk voters. It's now really down to how the WP team sells themselves now. Last round Jamus did his magic, now it's up to mr Singh if he can repeat the same.
Put one older folk to pit with one younger senior counsel. Consider punggol demographics. They're more likely retiring GKY bah .

Time wasn't ripe.

Punggol GRC was not its own GRC all the while except this time.

It was always Punggol Pasir Ris GRC so it might be a factor for WP to back out last elections.

actually areas where ppl are younger will care more about national issues. issues like fts are what these ppl faces everyday at work. older ppl one care about vouchers and kampung spirit.
