Singapore as first world country, always no 1 in everything.

But after so many years of independence , residents still need $1 coupons, eggs, cdc, gst , climate vouchers .. and so on.

Debate on this.

that's a different conversation topic and it's too premature to talk about it.

For this election, WP's vision is to prevent PAP's super-majority by having enough opposition MPs.

Will they shift goalpost and change their vision should that vision is achieved in the future ? only time will tell.
We should start to be open minded about this, which majority of singaporeans arent. This is what harpreet calls stagnation, not stability.

Ultimately, it is about who is the best person for the job, regardless of what colour you wear.

This is not a pre mature topic. If harpreet, jamus wears white, we'd all agree the outcome will be very different; they'd easily be considered for POHs.

PPP’s Samuel Lee previously jailed 6 weeks for road rage confrontation with delivery rider

He sings "look left, look right" — but in this case, he just rushed straight ahead.

PPP’s Samuel Lee jailed 6 weeks in 2024 for road rage incident in Toa Payoh

People’s Power Party (PPP) candidate Samuel Lee has been in the spotlight recently, particularly after a video of him singing went viral.

In a report on Friday (25 April), Shin Min Daily News identified Lee as the driver of a red Mercedes involved in a road rage incident in 2022.

Lee was later convicted of two charges of reckless endangerment and sentenced to six weeks in jail.

Delivery rider narrowly avoids being hit — twice

The incident took place on 2 Feb 2022 along Lorong 4 Toa Payoh, near the Victory Family Centre support centre.

Lee, driving a red Mercedes, failed to give way to a food delivery rider riding an e-bike.

As a result, the vehicle nearly collided with the rider, who was delivering food at the time.

The delivery rider became angry and followed Lee, shouting and cursing.

However, Lee did not exit his vehicle to confront the rider and instead called the police.

While waiting for the police to arrive, the rider continued shouting, which escalated Lee’s frustration.

In an attempt to intimidate the rider, Lee allegedly reversed his vehicle and then accelerated toward him. Fortunately, the
rider was able to dodge the vehicle.

Lee then reversed once more and drove at the rider a second time. Again, the rider successfully avoided being hit.

Though the rider was not struck, Lee caused a metal gate at the Victory Family Centre to be knocked down during the incident.

Pleaded for a shorter sentence, but judge denied request

Lee appeared in court on 20 June 2024, unrepresented by a lawyer.

He requested a short-term detention sentence.

However, the judge noted that Lee remained unremorseful throughout the proceedings, continually blaming others while denying his actions.

As a result, the judge did not consider a short-term detention as a viable option.

Lee was ultimately sentenced to six weeks in jail, and his driver’s licence was revoked for six months.

MS News has reached out to PPP for a statement.

Will PAP become like Taiwan’s KMT, and WP become the DPP?

Last time when DPP took over in Taiwan, many people were hopeful. They thought things would really start to change. But even after being in power, some of the big challenges like ageing population, cost of living, housing prices, job stability, and birth rate matters are still around today. These are not easy things to tackle, and progress has been quite gradual.

Sometimes it feels like people in government are just trying to buy time. The issues are complicated, and the solutions not so straightforward.

Actually, these are deep-rooted problems, and no one party can easily solve them. Whether it’s the ruling party or the opposition, once they step into government, they will all face the same kind of challenges. In the end, it’s the civil servants and public sector folks who quietly try their best to manage the situation behind the scenes and mitigate the issues

So maybe it’s not just about which party is in charge. The real question is who has the courage to push through long-term solutions, even if they are not so popular? Otherwise, things might just stay the same, just with different people at the top.

Weak statement.

If the old ministers never retire and continue to remain in power, you guys will say power hungry and dictatorship.

A good political party is the one that doesn't rely on any particular individual to survive and function.

No… having a stronger opposition is not about asking them to replace anyone. But is to ensure we the people aren’t held hostage by the system.

imagine tomorrow if the PAP becomes not so ideal, maybe poor policies adopted after taken over by new leaders.

what then?

can we vote them out? If we do so… what then? Which party has enough credible and experienced politicians to step up?

you will might then get people like LT into parliament.

a balance power system benefits us as people.
