But these were legacy issues from long ago. If it were that bad, PAP should have lost there long ago.

I remember the vote share dipped slightly in 2020. Pasir Ris Punggol has always been a PAP stronghold.
Cos WP has never contested here.

That alone is worth a big swing. If the likes of SDA and PV can get 36% ............ and the popular (I dunno why she is deemed that,) SXL only 61%... I round up for her.

Legacy or not, they should have known better from URA masterplan.
PAP did not lose because there were no strong oppo. Plus after WP won SK, the PG residents probably felt more hopeful because it could soon be their turn to have WP coming.
So it is PG now or end up like EC and MP. Likewise for Tampines n Jalan Kayu.

Don't underestimate the power of anger. The reason why Trump won is because there was an outpouring of negativity towards the Democrats.

And there's no anger at Punggol, Tampines or Jalan Kayu so the outcome can be predicted already....

WP alone worth 10% more than other parties, but still not enough to win.

Actually the anger from the Malay voters in Tampines is something that PAP might be keen to talk about.

LW just cheapened the hard work of the civil service, in particularly the MFA and MTI, whose staff worked behind the scene to prep, nego, setup meetings, etc., so that te minister can appear and to sign the contract.

this is typical of any deals that requires protocols and processes.

minister do not personally do all these and nego the deals, though they may be consulted or set the framework.

by saying Gan, or any other ministers are indispensible, LW or any PAP candidates, PAP is discounting the efforts of the civil service.

that is why civil service MUST be independent from ruling Govt of the day. Govt may change during GE, but civil service does not.

PaP is stirring dangerous fear mongering This GE.

What u said, every GE has been said before, not only this one, so clearly this is not a factor that will make people swing to vote for opposition.

What swings people to vote for opposition is the neglect of MP duties and politician's mistake. An example is SK, the PAP MPs didn't fight hard enough for SK residents and u could see how Lam Pin Min was so much hated in SK that time. And WP only won narrowly.

However, Punggol is different. Punggol was and still is rising star of Singapore estate. Punggol has so many amenities and infrastructure. New station opened, Punggol East is going to have a cross island line and Punggol MRT will be interchange. There are good PAP MPs there and with Harpreet's misinterpretation of Punggol in his speech, I am leaning towards a PAP win in Punggol and a shift back to PAP in SK.

Might not be something wise to bring up at this point. Just like how the tactic is to deflect the Allianz issue.
