A responsible voter should always examine the context and not just react on headlines or partisan spin.

Yes, both Andre and Ng Chee Meng made mistakes. But let’s not pretend they are the same.

Andre’s lapse was a private conversation that caused no public harm. He owned up and apologised the moment it was leaked, something not easy for anyone to do under public scrutiny.

On the other hand, Ng Chee Meng’s mistake involved a serious governance lapse where the decision could have affected millions of Singaporeans if the sale had gone through. And instead of addressing it when it first came to light, he remained silent. The apology only came months later, when the heat became too hard to ignore.

Some would probably be quick to say the same that Andre only apologised because he got caught. But let’s be honest. It was a private chat. Most people would not expect their personal messages to be made public. He did not owe the public that explanation, but he gave it anyway. That shows character. Meanwhile, what does it say about a leader who avoids accountability until it’s politically necessary?

In the end, vote for the one who takes ownership and puts Singaporeans first and not the one who hides behind excuses and party protection.

Andre practically talks like what a typical Singaporean does in their own private chat settings.

I am very curious about what kind of texts NCM types in his private chat messages.

Let see if he has never ever used the f-bomb in his entire working career or not.

Tbh, just ask the people who worked under him in Airforce/CS you will know NCM disliked he is.

Well. I'm not someone to speculate based on hearsay. Whatever my opinion about the mistake by Andre and Ng Chee Meng are based on all facts (i.e. telegram messages) and circumstances (i.e. reports on the botch sales) that were avaliable.

So, weighing the seriousness of the lapse, it pretty clear which one is more serious.

If I am sitting in the fence previously, I may now vote for him as he has the fire in him and willing to speak up on things that he feels is not right as compared to someone who knows that things are not right but chose to keep silent about it.

It appears to be a cut out of a sure win area specially for ncm to contest one. Jalan Kayu is part of AMK which is the stronghold for PAP. His winning speech would probably that he win based on his own merit.
