No, NTUC is not just to give alternative.

Please read:

NTUC Enterprise is a new holding co-operative set up by NTUC, Singapore Labour Foundation (SLF) and unions affiliated to both NTUC and SLF. NTUC Enterprise institutionalises the strategic partnership between NTUC, SLF and the unions to enable the NTUC Social Enterprises to do even more for working families. This is in line with the NTUC SE Vision 2015 to expand the social impact of NTUC Social Enterprises. Through NTUC Enterprise, NTUC SEs will be able to build on the firm foundation of the social impact that they already deliver today, to make an even greater difference in the lives of working families in Singapore.

NTUC Enterprise is the parent company of Fairprice, Income etc. etc.

This argument assumes only ex-generals or high-level people can lead. But in a democracy, ministers don’t work alone—they have full support from experienced civil servants. What matters most is honesty, accountability, and the ability to serve the people, not just someone’s past job. Many good leaders around the world didn’t come from elite or military backgrounds. Let’s not treat government like a CV contest. Spreading fear like this doesn’t show real support for PAP—it just weakens trust in voters and our system.

By the way, the ST in your nick, is not Straits Times hor? Or it is?
ST is STI Straits time Infex
It’s a fact that the WP or any opposition does not have the numbers to form the government. In Singapore’s system, different opposition parties also do not band together to form a coalition government, that’s simply not how Parliament operates here.

Even if the PAP loses some constituencies to strong opposition parties like WP and PSP, they would still retain a clear majority and continue to form the government. Losing a few seats does not mean chaos, instability, or the collapse of Singapore.

In reality, a stronger opposition presence leads to better checks and balances, stronger accountability, and more balanced policymaking, which ultimately benefits Singaporeans. The idea that "only the PAP can govern" is outdated fear-mongering that no longer holds up in today’s political landscape.

You seriously need to read more, instead of just looking at medium from our national mouth piece.
Over the past 5 yrs ....the one that make the most noise is Louis Ng of PAP Sembawang.....the one that make the loudest noise is LMW of PSP.....as for WP...they only make noise during election. ... after that u ownself go check......So does that mean u should vote PSP in n WP out.....

that's what the oppo wants you to believe. more checks and balance.

by your argument. how come Taiwan and US with strong opposition don't lead to more balanced policymaking leh
Strong opposition can promote checks and balances, but the political context matters. Taiwan and the US have different systems with more polarization and power separation. In Singapore, a more robust opposition is needed to better represent diverse voices and ensure policies serve everyone. Just because other countries function differently doesn’t mean it's the right model for us.

Also, it’s clear that Ng Chee Meng’s mistake was serious, and his lack of response only further undermined his credibility and accountability.

Original purpose NOT suppose to serve the workers?!!!

You sure?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Income_Insurance
The idea of co-operatives, also known as social enterprises, was first conceived at NTUC's Modernisation Seminar in 1969, where delegates from NTUC-affiliated unions gathered to discuss the challenges Singaporean workers were facing. Then, Singapore was a developing nation with a population comprising mostly blue-collar and low income workers.[2]
One of the founding leaders of NTUC, Devan Nair, articulated the need for the labour movement to turn into a social institution to serve Singaporean workers in various ways. Then-Finance Minister Goh Keng Swee supported this and urged NTUC to set up social enterprises in areas such as life insurance and essential consumer goods to meet the needs of the working population.[3]

A busy campaign

Earlier in his address, Ng – one of the People’s Action Party’s 97 candidates at this Saturday’s general election – said this May Day period has been “a little bit different” for him.

This year’s May Day coincides with the ninth and final day of campaigning for the election. Ng shared that he has only been home for dinner twice in the last 45 days or so, shedding 4 kg along the way.

“It has been a very busy period to say the least, but every second has been worth it, because every hour and every day spent is for the larger purpose of serving fellow Singaporeans and workers of all collars,” he said.

Unfortunately for Andre, Ng Chee Meng WILL be elected into office come 4 May 2025.

I admire Andre's fight though. It was extremely unfair grounds for him since day one, his fighting spirit is much better than the Traitor of a 3 star Ex-Gen
