I have since managed to get singtel to bridge for me FOC for 24 months as some users have reported, the tech tried multiple times to bridge the ZTE one and bricked 2 ONR's before coming back the next day with the Nokia version and successfully bridged it for me :)

Great that you can convince Singtel to bridge the ONR free of charge.

Now the situation was quite similar to last time (to bridge either Huawei or Nokia GPON ONR): Singtel tech often did not know how to bridge the ONR properly and often bricked the ONR during the process...

I wonder if they would start charging those that self-bridged... so far it is still working so hope it stays that way...

How can they charge for people carrying our manual bridging?

It is either they make manual bridging not working, or they just keep it as it is.

FYI, they have now indicated it in their Terms and Conditions as "Bridge Mode Service" here: https://www.singtel.com/personal/terms/fibre-broadband-terms#sectionc

You will need to scroll down to Chapter 12, but it's written there now.

Nice, thanks a lot.

Item 12.8 and Item 12.9 are kind of interesting.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
12. Bridge Mode Service

12.1 What is Bridge Mode? Bridge Mode is a VAS that enables a network configuration on your ONR to disable its routing functions and turn it into a pass-through device for network traffic ('Bridge Mode'). By using Bridge Mode, you will be able to disable certain Singtel-managed features, inclusive but not limited to Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol ('DHCP'), Network Address Translation ('NAT'), firewall functionalities and other Singtel related security protocols thereby assuming full responsibility for your network management. This service is tailored for advanced users requiring custom configurations and is not enabled by default. The provision of Bridge Mode is subject to our sole discretion and availability. By subscribing to Bridge Mode, you acknowledge you have been informed of the risks and limitations associated with the service and accept full responsibility for its use.

12.2 Customer Responsibility. You acknowledge that enabling Bridge Mode will deactivate specific features of our managed services. This deactivation may lead to diminished network performance, increased security risks, and operational challenges. You assume full and exclusive responsibility for configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting your network post-enablement of Bridge Mode, which encompasses the implementation and upkeep of adequate security measures. You agree to ensure that your equipment is compatible with Bridge Mode and that you possess the requisite technical expertise to manage the network independently. You agree not to use Bridge Mode for any illegal or unauthorized activities, including but not limited to, reselling network access, tampering with network configurations, or engaging in activities that may compromise network integrity or security.

12.3 Limitation of Liability. We shall not be liable for any service interruptions, degradation in network performance, security vulnerabilities, or other issues arising from the utilization of Bridge Mode. You assume all risks, liabilities, and responsibilities associated with the operation of your network beyond the ONR. You agree to fully indemnify, defend, and hold us harmless against any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) resulting from faults, misuse, or issues caused by your use of Bridge Mode. We shall not be responsible for any unauthorized access, data breaches, or loss of data resulting from your network configurations or security measures while Bridge Mode is active.

12.4 Exclusions from Support and Service Level Agreements. Upon activation of Bridge Mode:

(a) We will cease to provide support for any customer-provided equipment or troubleshooting beyond the ONR, including but not limited to routers, firewalls, or custom network configurations.

(b) Service level agreements ('SLAs'), performance guarantees, and other service assurances will no longer be applicable.

(c) You explicitly waive any claims or entitlements to remedies typically available under SLAs or performance guarantees for issues arising from the use of Bridge Mode.

12.5 Potential Singtel TV Disruption. Bridge Mode may affect Singtel TV Services functionality, and impact accessibility. Consequently, you shall not be entitled to use Bridge Mode as a reason for termination without Early Termination Charge on the basis of such Singtel TV Service disruption.

12.6 Service Conditions and Revocation. We reserve the right to:

(a) revoke or modify Bridge Mode if it adversely affects network performance, security, or stability; and/or

(b) restore standard service configuration and management at any time without prior notice; however, reasonable efforts will be made to notify you where feasible.

Once Bridge Mode is revoked or altered, you acknowledge that we will not be obligated to reinstate the original Bridge Mode configuration. In the event of revocation or modification of Bridge Mode, you agree to accept our determination and to cooperate in reverting to standard service configurations.

12.7 No Warranties. We provide no warranties, express or implied, regarding the functionality, compatibility, security, or uninterrupted availability of the network once Bridge Mode is enabled. You understand and agree that the service is provided strictly 'as is' and acknowledge that by utilizing Bridge Mode, you accept the network configuration without any assurances, representations, or guarantees from us. We shall not be liable for any issues arising from incompatibility, malfunctions, or performance degradation caused by third-party equipment or software connected to your network while Bridge Mode is active.

12.8 Fees. Bridge Mode is a chargeable service offered at our discretion, with additional installation fees applicable. We may in our discretion charge the installation fee if you change the installation date two (2) working days before the designated installation date, or if installation cannot be completed and an additional trip is required.

12.9 Additional Services and Charges. We may offer additional services, including but not limited to troubleshooting or support services beyond the standard scope of Bridge Mode, for an additional fee. Such services, if provided, may be subject to separate terms and conditions and are offered at our discretion. You agree that we are under no obligation to provide any such services free of charge.

Almost kena 12.8 where they wanted to charge ~$100 for coming down to click a few buttons and type a few things on the keyboard...

This is actually very bad for consumers, SG is also not like EU where they fight for consumer rights, rights to repair etc..

By right, If I'm not wrong, we all own the ONR Equipment since they don't collect it back even after you terminate service with them. So they can't stop us from changing our ONR settings since it is on the hardware itself. You can actually stop them from being able to remotely control your ONR settings by unticking TR-069 service. It is what allows ISP to remotely access and configure your ONR settings.

With that ToS, They can essentially remotely access and disable your Bridge Mode even if you have done it yourself FOC, and you have no recourse. They can also use some vague or made up reasoning if you are encountering issues then they charge you for "additional support" during technician house visits.

Just FYI, the ISP owns the ONT/ONR, no matter they ask you to return the ONT/ONR or not.

Basically do not go with Singtel/WC if you do not like the ONR.

I do not recommend new users to go with Singtel due to the use of ONR.

Noticed that there was firmware update waiting on the MySingtel App for the F8648P.

Pushed it to the router and it took about 5 - 6 minutes to update. It's now on the V2.1.10P5N20B firmware.

Quick check on the support login, and it seems that they removed the bridging ports on the Fast Setting page.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but trying my luck.

Is anyone here using Wi-Fi calling on Singtel? The mobile reception at my home is very bad, so I need to use Wi-Fi calling. Before I upgraded to 10G, I was using Singtel's 1G plan and Wi-Fi calling was working with no issues. I realised that after upgrading to 10G and using the Nokia ONR (in bridge mode), Wi-Fi calling doesn't work anymore. Not sure if it's related?

Very interesting update. I believe you need to enable the option in MySingTel app to allow Singtel to access the ONR. I saw the option and I did not proceed since I do not want that.

But then Singtel may still have the option to push the FW update without user agreement using TR-069. Let's see.

New ZTE F8648P ONR users may also get this new FW which may prevent the bridging.

I belive this is not related.

I will suggest you change your mobile provider in this case.

Just to double check. The correct steps is to change from pic 1 to pic 2? I login via the username:admin and the pw at the back of the ONR (nokia 240X-A)

Did Singtel literally pushed out a firmware update to patch self bridging WAN option? No more Internet option only limited to IPTV when you select Bridge Mode ONR (nokia 240X-A) login-ed with support username @xiaofan
