No more le. There's a swing because PAP was slacking with lousy opposition. Once WP come they will shore up everything work hard on the ground to make sure WP has no chance next time. Similar to East Coast.
Wont be surprise if that army guy became a full minister come next election

WP’s Alexis Dang hopes to ‘continue being a familiar face’ in Punggol

fb9e70.jpg

Speaking to ST on the sidelines at Serangoon Stadium, the WP's Punggol GRC candidate Alexis Dang said: “I hope to continue being a familiar face to those in Punggol.”

Referring to her teammates Mr Harpreet Singh, Ms Alia Mattar and Mr Jackson Au, Ms Dang added: “There may not be a concrete plan yet, but the idea is to definitely continue on the work we’ve built in Punggol so far.”

PAP won Punggol GRC with 55.17% of the votes.

in all wards WP and PAP face off straight fight, WP still maintain the leads as per GE2020
  • PAP: 49.33%
  • WP: 50.67%

adding in tampines GRC, which i consider the other two parties to be negligible, here's the results
  • PAP: 49.90%
  • WP: 50.10%

WP will get the two NCMP seats

With all the results in, the WP will get both NCMP seats, in addition to having 10 elected MPs. The two closest fights in the election were in Jalan Kayu SMC and Tampines GRC.

The law requires a minimum of 12 opposition members in Parliament.

In Jalan Kayu SMC, WP's Andre Low garnered 48.53 per cent of the votes. In Tampines GRC, WP's team led by Mr Faisal Manap won 47.37 per cent of the votes.

The result in Tampines means SDP chief Chee Soon Juan, who was the next best performing losing candidate with 46.81 per cent of the vote in Sembawang West SMC, misses out on a seat in Parliament.

2 disappointments from this GE 2025
- Tambyah not even being able to crack 40%. A multitude of factors imo:
- fear (US tarifs)
- $1 meal
- non-voters (take leave on Friday, chiong long weekend)
- WP barely cracking 40% in East Coast. Yee Jenn Jong not being able to get NCMP spot.

I think EDMWers main disappointment is Alexis Dang not being able to get into Parliament, either as MP or NCMP.

‘My jaw dropped when I saw Bukit Panjang’s results’: SDP chief Chee Soon Juan

f3b7ae.png

“It’s been a very disappointing set of results across the board… My jaw just dropped when I saw Bukit Panjang’s results, as well as our two other constituencies in Sembawang and Marsiling-Yew Tee,” said Singapore Democratic Party chief Chee Soon Juan at MOE (Evans) Stadium.

PAP won Bukit Panjang SMC with 61.41 per cent of votes, with SDP raking in the remainder.

Dr Chee lost Sembawang West SMC with 46.81 per cent of votes, compared with PAP candidate Poh Li San's 53.19 per cent of votes.

PAP garnered 67.75 per cent of votes in Sembawang GRC, with SDP at 29.93 per cent.

In Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC, SDP received 26.54 per cent of votes, with PAP getting 73.46 per cent.

He thanked all his supporters for their “enthusiastic support, (but) I just wish we had better results for you”.

“If there is any consolation… we ran the best campaign that we could, and with your support, I just think we managed to soar,” he said, before being presented with flowers by a long-time supporter.

PAP’s win in Tanjong Pagar is its best-ever performance in a GRC

80e97c.jpg

Tanjong Pagar has become the PAP’s best-ever performing GRC since such electoral divisions were created in 1988.

With 81.03 per cent of the vote, the PAP team won in a landslide against the People’s Alliance for Reform (PAR).

This surpasses the party’s 2001 win in Jurong GRC, its previous strongest showing with 79.75 per cent of the vote against the Singapore Democratic Party.

Jurong GRC was also the PAP’s best-performing GRC in the last two elections, where it secured 79.29 per cent of the vote in GE2015 and 74.61 per cent in GE2020.

SDP’s Chee Soon Juan expresses disappointment over GE results

4fe4e7.png

Speaking to the media at the MOE (Evans) Stadium, SDP chief Chee Soon Juan expressed disappointment over the election results but remained resolute in his commitment to continue the party’s mission.

“When I had to start again, it was an uphill battle,” he said, acknowledging the challenges he faced.

“The gerrymandering made it more difficult.”

Dr Chee added: “I’ve always aimed to win the constituency. Given everything that has transpired, our goal was to win the seat but unfortunately, it did not happen.”

Despite the outcome, he assured that SDP’s work would go on.
