2 disappointments from this GE 2025
- Tambyah not even being able to crack 40%. A multitude of factors imo:
- fear (US tarifs)
- $1 meal
- non-voters (take leave on Friday, chiong long weekend)
- WP barely cracking 40% in East Coast. Yee Jenn Jong not being able to get NCMP spot.

I think EDMWers main disappointment is Alexis Dang not being to get into Parliament, either as MP or NCMP.
but got more cdc vouchers to use for COL song song

pap the best liao

PAP’s win in Tanjong Pagar is its best-ever performance in a GRC

80e97c.jpg

Tanjong Pagar has become the PAP’s best-ever performing GRC since such electoral divisions were created in 1988.

With 81.03 per cent of the vote, the PAP team won in a landslide against the People’s Alliance for Reform (PAR).

This surpasses the party’s 2001 win in Jurong GRC, its previous strongest showing with 79.75 per cent of the vote against the Singapore Democratic Party.

Jurong GRC was also the PAP’s best-performing GRC in the last two elections, where it secured 79.29 per cent of the vote in GE2015 and 74.61 per cent in GE2020.

Jamus Lim thanks voters for ‘keeping the flickering flame of an alternative flame alive’

1a6f30.jpg

Speaking to the crowd at Serangoon Stadium at about 1am, WP’s Sengkang candidate Jamus Lim said: “Thank you for keeping the flickering flame of an alternative flame alive in Singapore...so once again, gam sia (thank you) Sengkang.”

Mr Lim and his team retained Sengkang GRC, winning 56.31 per cent of the vote in the constituency against the PAP.

His teammate Louis Chua said in Mandarin that his team is extremely glad to be able to work hard for residents again for the next five years.

WP will get the two NCMP seats

With all the results in, the WP will get both NCMP seats, in addition to having 10 elected MPs. The two closest fights in the election were in Jalan Kayu SMC and Tampines GRC.

The law requires a minimum of 12 opposition members in Parliament.

In Jalan Kayu SMC, WP's Andre Low garnered 48.53 per cent of the votes. In Tampines GRC, WP's team led by Mr Faisal Manap won 47.37 per cent of the votes.

The result in Tampines means SDP chief Chee Soon Juan, who was the next best performing losing candidate with 46.81 per cent of the vote in Sembawang West SMC, misses out on a seat in Parliament.
yeah chee lost the ncmp seat even though sample count he was placed second with 47%

wp tampines grc 46% sample count.

then final results, the results swapped.

now andre low, and one of the tampines GRC candidates from WP are the ncmps.

chee really not fated to be in parliament.

why would this andre reject
I think his reputation would have been tarnished after the Telegram saga and the only reason he is getting as much vote is due to NCM being extremely unpopular. Knowing that Jalan Kaya would most likely be absorbed into a GRC next time or NCM being parachuted elsewhere, he is not the sweet thing as an anchor candidate. Someone like Micheal Thng or Eileen Chong would be more suitable for grooming.

Of course strong mandate. Curved this and that. So many new GRC and SMC, meaning more chances of incumbent vs weak opposition, leading to many favoring the incumbent, increase the mandate and overall mandate.

His Picasso did a good job and deserved a big paycheck.
Agree on gerrymandering but hard truth is other than WP, rest of opposition did significantly poorer than last GE. And Tharman gone, Iswaran bribery scandal, but still both PSP and RDU did poorly in the combined area.

Paul tambyah neh tio gerrymandering and still did poorer than last GE. So you cannot say it was gerrymandering. I dunno what ppl of bt panjang is thinking, makes me want move there to +1 for him.

No further remarks from WP chief Pritam Singh tonight

Unlike in previous elections, WP chief Pritam Singh will not be making further remarks on the election tonight, telling reporters he will speak tomorrow morning after he has had a chance to look at the PAP results in full.

Mr Singh had given a brief speech thanking supporters and pledging to continue working after the official results were announced for Aljunied GRC, but has yet to comment on the overall performance of the party.

I think WP team in 10KKJ did reasonably well despite the swing towards PAP and 4 corner fight and first time contesting there whereas NSP contest there a few times
NSP is super lao kui. Even lose to ppp. When they think they are the incumbent opposition and husband of tampines. In the end 0%. The spencer guy should disappear from political scene
