So you are saying that the blower has never been dismantled for washing but just washing in place? How effective is washing in place? Thank you
not sure how effective . but it work for me and many here

BTW just to share, i purchased those $30 gun pump spray which uses Makita 21V batteries.
I have quite a few of those 21V batts which are extremely powerful and high current (able to power my 64mm violent fans with 1.6kg thrust, actually can do 2.1kg thrust with my 70mm fan which probably is around 1.4kW).
So the limiting factor is the pump sprayer, the PSI it is able put out.
I tried the spray @ 25 deg pattern on my hands just 2 inches away and initially i thought the pressure / force is sufficient.

The gun spray is not too shabby, i use it to clean my bicycle chain quickly every week after degreasing. So thought of trying it out on the blower fan.

The gun spray is able to get the Blower cage fan decently clean but leaves some spots of mold/dust on the concave section here and there. It is unable to get it literally spotlessly clean like how my pressure washer is able to.

I do in-place cleaning. Dont bother to take it out, some bros here took it out and either broke the fins or 2 also dropped it thus making it out of balance. While some have issue taking it out while others have difficulty slotting it back.
If you are gunning with a pressure washer, just hit it at nearly full pressure (I use the karcher VP-180S variable pressure nozzle)

For the pressure washer, just aim it such the pressure washer spray hits the concave section of the blades. Withing 30 seconds of spraying gao dim.
Wear gloves so that you can give resistance to the blower so that it does not overspin.

Conclusion, you really need pressure washer kind of PSI to really gun it on the blower in order to get it spotlessly clean, the kind of cleanliness that allergic rhinitis sufferers need.

However, if you just need something to clean it so that there it is clean enough to restore excellent airflow, those gun pump sprayers are sufficient.
However without the 120 deg u pipe + attachment from Taobao that is able to hit the back evaporator coil, that means that part is not touched with these straight spraying guns. And this i only have the solution if you attach that 120 deg u pipe to your pressure washer (in which i have it for Karcher)
Or if your FCU to ceiling gap is > 4 inches then the typical Karcher VP 180S 90 deg cum variable pressure nozzle would be able to hit the back coil liao.
Other brands like Bosch has 90 deg nozzles but they do not have variable pressure adjustment (unless if your main machine has pressure adjustment then ok)

Even taking it out and bringing to the bathroom to spray and brush, i believe it is still not gonna be spotlessly clean. I also use a paintbrush to try brushing at the concave part with my cleaner before spraying with the $30 gun. No use, coz the brush filaments are not able to apply good pressure against the concave blades. Trust me, i have brushed for a good 3 minutes ensuring the filaments did penetrate between the blades. They are concave, hence only the edges of the blades are making contact, not the middle parts of the concave blades. Not that the brushing does not work at all, just that it would not give you a perfect spotless outcome, unless if you use alkaline coil cleaners which i hate using (pls do not use it on the evaporator coil unless if the coil is all totally gunked up coz of years of neglect, thank me later).
How, if the blades are "straight" then that is another matter, i believe the physical scrubbing action by the brush alone is able to clean it.

Just blow it dry and shine a powerful flashlight and you'd know what i mean.

Outside ppl don’t wash the aluminium fins well. They just vacuum only. I went to clean my parents aircons which are regularly cleaned by outside people and they could feel the effect of my cleaning because I use pressure washer spray the fins.. especially the top and back part which is hard to reach.

Shopee has. The cheap china ones are sufficient.
Get the one with the bigger batt.
Sufficient to do a decent job, only issue is cannot hit the back coil....of coz, that is to be expected.
Just a cheap proof of concept gadget, is ok.

I got this one, primarily to clean my bike chain after degreasing. Just tried it out on the AC for fun and see how it works vs my pressure washer in which i dial it down to approx half the pressure.

The advantage of this is that the setup/tear down time vs the pressure washer is quite a bit faster.
Actually there is next to no setup time. Just fill up water source, dip the hose in and off you go.

no , just pay a bit , get the pros to do it

If you have allergic rhinitis (or a good portion of your family got allergic rhinitis, it is strongly genetic), and got budget, then it is fine.

If not, for a 3 FCU family, you are looking at well over 1k per year of proper cleaning cost.
For us, we need to clean every 2 months, without fail you will know it one, and immediately the night after cleaning the symptoms are gone for everyone in my family (we have varying degrees of allergic rhinitis). And no, not the $20-30 type of cleaning.....nor is it the "vacuum out jelly" type of cleaning.
It is the $100 type of chemical wash, just that you swap out the alkaline coil cleaner with a pH neutral coil cleaner.

just a check. Anyone using aircon foam to spray the fins and blower before further cleaning? If do, any recommendation? I heard from my aircon service man that such form shouldn't be use as it will cloak the fins. True?

hi, gonna try this for the first time. this thread is quite long, got any tldr what i need? i watch the video on page 1 only need chemical and bag but page 300+ ppl talking wet dry vaccuum

so my questions are

- what do i need?
- is the aircon cleaning bag reusable? or do you guys throw away?
- how much do you all dismantle? is it like page 1 video or you all actually take out the entire blower cover and assembly and clean the rotor as well?

1. A wet dry vacuum like karchar. To suck jelly out
2. aircon bag is basically a drainage bag with hole at the bottom to drain filthy water. Can be reused.

Thanks bro. For wet dry vac will a handheld one be good enough or the corded karcher kind still be better?

I just use my Bosch (100 bar) to clean again. After that a/c is super cold once more. In fact, I shiver when I had another fan running, blowing at me.

For me, cleaning setup is an effort, as I have to cover up, due to many stuffs under the a/c. I use Kao color bleach (oxygen bleach) + neutral detergent. I don't use NaOH anymore.

Cleaning the blower is no issue. Just rotate the nozzle to spray upwards and it came out squeaky clean.
I don't remove anything other than the removable clips, filters and vanes on my Starmex.
