hi, gonna try this for the first time. this thread is quite long, got any tldr what i need? i watch the video on page 1 only need chemical and bag but page 300+ ppl talking wet dry vaccuum

so my questions are

- what do i need?
- is the aircon cleaning bag reusable? or do you guys throw away?
- how much do you all dismantle? is it like page 1 video or you all actually take out the entire blower cover and assembly and clean the rotor as well?
After cleaning many times, here's how I do it now.

Equipment:
1. Bosch EasyAquatek 100 - https://www.bosch-diy.com/sg/en/p/easyaquatak-100-06008a7el0
2. Cleaning cover - https://shopee.sg/Aircon-cleaning-c...rproof-Protector-Tool-i.527663430.21268960080
3. Shower curtain - to cover other stuffs while cleaning
4. Neutral detergent (no alkaline-based cleaner) e.g. SuperSteam 301
5. Kao color bleach - to remove stubborn sticky stuff
6. Drain pan tablets - to kill bacteria which clogs the drain hose - https://www.amazon.sg/gp/product/B003N5AS60
I have wet vacuum cleaner, but I don't need to use it, if I used the tablets periodically.

Method:
1. Put up shower curtain and a/c cover, drain hose into container
2. Remove blower vanes (not blower) and air filters
3. Fill spray gun with detergent
4. Inside a/c cover, bend nozzle downwards and spray from top down backwards at rear evaporator coil
5. Bend nozzle upwards at blower and spray
6. Finally, spray at the front evaporator coil
7. Let the cleaner worked for a few minutes, then finished up spraying with clean water.
8. Put the tablets in the drain pan, located at the bottom of the coil
9. Put back the vanes and filters.
10. End of job.

I haven't tried it, and don't see the need, if you have a pressure washer.
From YT, one end (left) of the blower is hooked onto some plastic roller, and rubber piece. The other end (right) is attached to the motor, using a set screw which is inserted in a segment where there's a space in the plastic fin of the blower.

For a beginner, I don't advice you taking it out. You may know how to take out the screw and the blower, but other pieces may fall out and you might not know how to put them back correctly.

Yuri bro had it on the spot. Normally to take out the roller, you will need to adjust the evaporator fin of the fancoil then can fully take out the roller to wash. if can wash it using pressure washer, then no need to take out. installing back will need to make sure the roller can turn freely, if not the motor will overwork n gg 🤙 :s12: :spin:

How much does all your tools cost? And how often u clean?

Are you not worried about damaging the aircon, having not done it before?

The major cost is the Bosch 100 bar pressure washer, about $150. when I bought it. You can shop around.

I don't recommend the higher power 110 bar. As you want to use for a/c. the 100 bar is safer for the coil fins, so as not to bend/damage them.

Since this comes complete with an adjustable nozzle, you don't have to buy extra parts, like angled nozzle.
You can also use this to clean the compressor coil fins; and other places like your toilet, floor, walls, etc.

You will need a standard garden hose with quick connect, to a tap 3/4". ~ about $10~$20
A/c cover ~ a few types should be less than $20 from Shopee.

Since I used my A/c 24/7 daily, I have to clean it quite often, every 1~2 months. Otherwise, it will not feel cold.

actually sounds like a really good deal. ask ppl come to wash minimally $70. if want to dismantle (take out blower) usually more expensive, more than $100. even if you manage to find some random guy on carousell likely also $50 for "transport costs"

You not concerned about breaking the aircon, or did you attend some skills future course on this

When you learn by DIY, sometimes you must be ready to break some things. But try to keep to a min. Knowledge is power.
Nowadays with Internet, you can learn a lot of things. There's tons of Youtube video on self-help, maintenance, even repair of many appliances.

Does Skill future course teach a/c maintenance like cleaning your FCU ? I dunno. Maybe you spend hundreds of dollars and they teach you how to take out air filter and wash only LOL. 🤪

Personally, I think if you want real skill, you need to attend a proper technical school and spend a couple of years full time learning. That is, if you have the time and money.

Just an update.

I've been cleaning with the FCU cover on for some time. Then one day, I realized the casing at the joint was leaking water one drop at a time. I checked the discharge tray was not clogged, not overflowing with water, and there was a bit of water that's all. I can't figure out where the water leak is coming from. I had no choice but to remove the casing cover, and trace the leak.

Finally, I found the culprit is the same tray. It was blocked by some scum. On the left, the top coils were dripping water to the tray, but it was blocked from draining into the discharge hose, and overflow on the left side of the FCU. You can see the yellow arrow where it's pointing at the grey coloured tray, with the cooling coils right above it.

So now, I have to clean it thoroughly by removing the cover and paying attention to the left side of the tray.

Is it the angle of the camera that plays with the light or are the fins of the heat exchanger really all black instead of silver?

It's the lighting. The fins are clean (silver), although many are bent. I have to straighten them, not easy.
I use a fin comber bought from Shopee.
But anyway, once the fins are clean, it will get cold fast.

The next step I'm working on is to clean the compressor. The fins are black there, collect a lot of sticky black stuff.

Clean compressor - save electricity
Clean FCU - you'll get coldness

My MHI almost running for 16 years already....same age as my Ah Boyz...

still kicking good....only cleaning twice yearly by GC
Why dont change it? Now using R32 gas, 5 ticks and u might save $$$ in long long run? If save $50 a month, u might save $6k in 10 years? If got $100 savings then it could be $12k in 10 years.

Mine is using R410A and 2 ticks Mitsubishi electric starmex, i dunno how long it has been as its from prior owner.

Anyone knows changing from R410A to R32 how much savings a month on ur usage?
