Disagree. Defence minister is all about that strategy. Eloquence goes to minister of foreign affairs as that's where diplomacy is needed. Our defence minister can't be hollow like NATO (no action tok only)Disagree. Defence minister is different from being CDF or COA. It is not an operational role.
It is an external facing, diplomacy role where you are the face of Singapore's defence capabilities in front of potential aggressors. Any country you meet is a potential aggressor.
Teo Chee Hean himself said in his recent exit interview that physical attributes matter for the job. That's the reason defence ministers usually don't have a "nice guy" image.
U put someone who looks and speaks like a clown, like CCS, who says "cotton come from sheeps" u are in a very vulnerable and disrespected position internationally.
NEH did well in defence, he is articulate and demonstrated his intellect, flew our flag high at international defence dialogues, that is why he served the longest as defence minister
He needs to come up with strategies to counter our adversaries, just like he did during GE2025. I heard he was the mastermind behind moves like assigning our DPM to Punggol — a decision that initially seemed questionable, but ultimately proved EDMW wrong
On the MP side, he's the strongest candidate since he's genuine and seems like a nice guy. Therefore, giving him the defence ministry is a no brainer since you need someone who's popular and won't be voted out anytime
