Lard itself is not inherently harmful but, because it is derived from conventionally farmed animals, exogenous growth‑promoting hormones and antibiotic residues tend to accumulate in the adipose tissue. For this reason, I prefer to source my dietary fats from plant-based origins.
Another important consideration is that ingested fats can be stored in adipose tissue unless one understands their biochemical properties. The length of a fat’s carbon chain tells the body how to handle it, whether to burn it up or tuck it away, so you wont get fat.
