Fearing a revolt at my workplace, moi decided to terminate the intern. The intern's teacher beg moi for a 2nd chance because she cannot get an in house programe for the intern as there is only 1 more week before the end of internship and the intern must retain 1 more year at ITE... :(

Don't think of it as ruining.

You are giving the individual chance to learn that everybody fails, and falls. He falls today, 1 year later, he will work harder and become the shining star that one can see when they're in outerspace, a bright spot, shining in the land of Sinkapore.

He will improve, be better, be the new him.

You did him a favor, helping him to become better. You should be proud.

Only 1 more week left and u terminate the intern? Gong xi gong xi...u must be a very cruel person with zero empathy. Hopefully u kena karma 😅

i did the same thing before many years ago, same ****... , mc, mia, lousy attitude, sleep during working hour, etc. 1 week can have 2 days mc, then subsequent week mia, didnt report to work and didn't inform, i warn him already and the week after same **** again... just barely 1 mth into the internship, i get HR to call the school to terminate his internship. really, with such attitude, let him graduate also wont do the society and him good. he is not ready to go out to the real working world. Better learn some basic proper discipline before go out to the real world.

no seriously, actually you ruined all of the interns' lives by altering their world view. Now that they see that it is so easy to game the system, they will feel encouraged to behave badly because it is quite easy to get away with it. If you had acted early and be firm, then maybe even the problem intern would have completed the internship.
