My broadband contract with Singtel ended afew weeks ago.

Singtel sent me an email about 2 weeks ago for 3gbps enhanced broadband plan.
Today I open the email & click the link.

In the website / form it state 3gbs enhance wifi 6 at $29.90.
I proceeded to fill my particular & submit my order.

Afew moment later , I received an acknowledgment email.

However the price in the acknowledgment email is $39.90.

Is Singtel trying to confuse or cheat people ?
Anyone else face the same scenario …. problem ??

Please advise.
Thanks

I have checked the email link several times. It is $29.90

You should be consulting Singtel regarding this matter instead.

Yes with some limitations due to the ONR.

1) If you use Archer BE805 in router mode, you are in the situation of Double NAT, your HB611-SGST WAN port must be connected to the Archer BE805 to use Ethernet Backhaul.

2) If you use Archer BE805 in AP mode, you have no Double NAT, your HB611-SGST WAN port can be connected to the Archer BE805, or the ONR 1G LAN port, in order to use Ethernet Backhaul.
I was told by the engineer that the given ONR cannot be bridge. I should use BE805 in AP mode to prevent double NAT. I think i will just do that. I will sell off the HB611 since it is not required. Thanks xiaofan!

Good news for those with new ZTE F8648P ONR Firmware, now you can bridge it as well, as per the latest report.

Hi all, had a ZTE F8648P ONR with the latest firmware which did not show the port bridging options. However, I did manage to find it.

Following the instructions from here: https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/...8p-superadmin-password.6946718/post-154220874

Visting the FastSetting page does not show the LAN ports for bridging, however you can right click and inspect element, search for a HTML element with an id of "BridgePort"

f4bIED3.png

Delete `display: none;` from the style attribute by clicking on the style attribute and just hitting backspace until it is gone, then hit Enter to save. After that, you should be able to see this:

SzPTWtr.png

You can then follow the same instructions in the attached post (e.g. tick LAN5, then submit and reboot).

Afterwards, it should look like this if you visit the same page and delete the `display: none;` again.

All should be good and you shouldn't have double NAT anymore.

Yes, that is a good way to go if you don't want to take the risk to bridge the ONR. Using the Archer BE805 in AP mode will avoid Double NAT and potential issues associated with Double NAT.

Hi everyone!

Does anyone know if the HB810 given by Singtel for the 5/10gbps plans is compatible for mesh with the HB710 from Starhub?

Theoretically the Singtel HB810 and Starhub HB710 should be able to mesh up since they are both EasyMesh compatible?

But has anyone tried this combination? I saw some posts about meshing the Singtel HB810 and Starhub EB810v, but not with the 710.

Thinking of a budget way to setup a WiFi7 mesh (with 10gbps ports for future proofing) but trying to avoid the Singtel HB611 (which has only 2.5gbps ports), so was thinking if I can do the HB810/HB710 combo.

Or if anyone has alternative suggestions, I’m all ears! Thanks!

It should work. If you are worried, you can check with TP-Link Singapore.

I have tested Archer BE805 + HB710 with both Ethernet backhaul and Wireless backhaul. I will say that Wireless backhaul performance is not good. I am not able to test this setup any more so I am not so sure newer FW helps to fix the issue or not.

But you will have a support issue. Singtel will not support you if the mesh does not work, they only supporrt HB810 and HB611-SGST. Starhub will not support you, as they only support EB810v/HB710/HB410.

For those who want to use TP-Link Easymesh, you may want to read the following FAQ to knows its limiations. As of now, it is not as good as TP-Link's Deco Mesh. Take note it is not compatible with Deco mesh either.
https://www.tp-link.com/sg/support/faq/3529/

Dongknows' review of TP-Link EasyMesh: it has made quite a bit of progress from 2023 to 2025, but still not good in terms of seaming roaming performance. Using wireless backhaul may also cause performance issues.

https://dongknows.com/tp-link-easymesh-wi-fi-system-review/

Limitations:
1) No MLO backhaul,
2) IoT and Guest Network not replicated to the mesh node
3) Limitations when using wireless backhaul (no dedicated frequency band as dedicated wireless backhaul)
4) Limitations when using AP mode on the main node

Conclusion:

TP-Link EasyMesh: Typical performance, mediocre hand-off

Recommendation: whenever possible use Ethernet Backhaul.

So, if you can buy a couple of Archer routers at a low price and have a wired home, a big if, EasyMesh can be a worthwhile option for building a Wi-Fi system from scratch.

Still, in most cases, you’d be better off going with more established DIY options, such as Ubiquiti’s UniFi or Asus’s AiMesh. Or stay with TP-Link’s Deco family.

Sorry if this is already been discussed here.

I am comparing SingTel‘s current offers with StarHub’s.

SingTel is offering:

5Gbps Enhanced Mesh @ $49.70 /mo

with 2 x Singtel WiFi 7 Routers (BE11000) (Tri-band) - which I believe is the HB611-SGST Singtel WiFi 7 Router.

My question is, why is SingTel offering incompatible CPE?

What I mean is, they are offering a 5 gbps connection, but routers which have only 2.5 gbps WAN and LAN ports.

So the customer will never experience anything more than 2.5 gbps with this offer.

Is this an oversight by SingTel, or shady business practices to falsely entice prospective customers who don’t know better?

I just had a conversation with SingTel about this over Whatsapp. Three different agents. Apparently the third was technical support.

I was told the HB611 provided has a 1 gbps WAN port. TP-Link website says it's 2.5 gbps, so I believe this is the first piece of mis-information from SingTel.

The agent then proceeded to tell me that if I want to achieve close to 5 gbps speed, I should connect via LAN to the router. I asked, "if the WAN port on the router is limited to 1 gbps, how would it technically be possible to achieve 5 gbps download speed?"

The agent had no answer.

If this is what they are like before I join them as a customer, imagine what it would be like if ever I had an issue?

I'll remain with Starhub.

1. As explained to you in the Starhub thread, Starhub offer is better.

2. Personally I think it is a short change from Singtel to offer HB611-SGST with 5Gbps or 10Gbps plan. The following is just to explain from Singtel's point of view.

3. Take note Singtel's ONR is the main router for your home network. It is 10G capable with the 10G LAN port. So technically you can use a 10G wired device to get full 5Gbps from the 5Gbps plan. You can get about 8.2Gbps with Singtel 10Gbps plan (same for other ISPs' 10Gbps plan, 8.2Gbps is the practial limit of the XGS-PON technology used).

So Singtel can argue that they can bundle any wireless router as there is no guarantee that using wireless can achieve the full capability of the Fibre internet plan (same for other ISPs).

BTW, Singtel issued wireless router is usually configured in AP mode. In the case of your 5Gbps offering with two HB611-SGST, there are different ways to achieve full 5Gbps.

Option 1
ONR 10G LAN port --> 10G capable wired device, up to 5Gbps
ONR 1G LAN port 1 --> first HB611-SGST, up to 1Gbps
ONR 1G LAN port 2 --> second HB611-SGST, up to 1Gbps
ONR 1G LAN port 3 -->one wired devices, up to 1Gbps

Option 2
ONR 10G LAN port --> first HB611-SGST, up to 2.5Gbps
ONR 1G LAN port 1--> second HB611-SGST, up to 1Gbps
ONR 1G LAN port 2 --> three wired devices, up to 1Gbps
ONR 1G LAN port 3 --> three wired devices, up to 1Gbps

Note: ZTE F8648P ONR will have one more 1G LAN port.

4. Actually it can be worse if you get the Singtel 5Gbps special recontract offer at S$29.90 per month as it comes with free Singtel AX5400 Wireless Router or AP (mesh node) which is capable of only 1Gbps.
https://www.singtel.com/personal/products-services/broadband/eform/recon-dm/fibre-5g
Recontracting to: Singtel Fibre Broadband Plan (24-month contract applies)
5Gbps (WiFi 6) Enhanced Plan at $29.90/mth (U.P. $95.90/mth)
Comes with 1 unit of Singtel AX5400 WiFi 6 mesh device

Singtel 3Gbps new user special offer at S$29.90 per month also comes with Singtel AX5400 device.
https://www.singtel.com/personal/products-services/broadband/eform/3gbps-enhanced-plan
3Gbps Enhanced (WiFi 6) Plan at $29.90/mth (U.P. $84.90/mth)
Comes with 1 unit of Singtel WiFi 6 mesh device

FYI, my recontract for Singtel 5Gbps last August was like this at S$49.90 per month, with ONR plus the free Sintgel AX5400 wireless router.

https://www.singtel.com/personal/support/broadband/routers-ont

Singtel XGS-PON ONR for 3Gbps/5Gbps/10Gbps plan
Singtel wireless router, usually configured by Singtel in AP mode (or as mesh nodes if you have two nodes).
  • Wi-Fi 6 Mesh Extender (WE620242-ST) --> not a router, AP or mesh node only, 1Gbps only, WiFi 6 AX5400
  • Wi-Fi 6 Mesh AP5690W --> not a router, AP or mesh node only, 1Gbps only, WiFi 6 AX5400
  • Wi-Fi 6 Router RT5703W --> only function as a router with legacy Singtel ONT, not working with other ISP's ONT, working as an AP when connected to the Singtel ONR or other ISP's main router, 1Gbps only, WiFi 6
  • Wi-Fi 6 Router (WG660242-ST) --> only function as a router with legacy Singtel ONT, not working with other ISP's ONT, working as an AP when connected to the Singtel ONR or other ISP's main router, 1Gbps only, WiFi 6 AX5400
  • Singtel WiFi 7 Router (HB611-SGST) --> function as either a router or AP, 2.5Gbps capable, triband WiFi 7 BE11000, dual 2.5G ports and dual 1G ports.
  • TPLink HB810 Wi-Fi 7 Router --> function as either a router or AP, 10Gbps capable, triband WiFi 7 BE22000, dual 10G ports and dual 2.5G ports.
It is a shame that Singtel still offers the 1Gbps capable Wifi 6 router or mesh solution with some 3Gbps and 5Gbps plans.

So it is actually an improvement now they start to offer HB611-SGST for some 3Gbps and 5Gbps plans. But again it is shame that they offer HB611-SGST with some 10Gbps plans. Only the more expensive 10Gbps plans come with HB810.

Please read the updated Singtel FAQ on the connection scheme for 3Gbps, 5Gbps and 10Gbps plan.

Good news for those with new ZTE F8648P ONR Firmware, now you can bridge it as well, as per the latest report.

Ha ha! Wow. That's amazing.

Tested the hack on Safari on Mac, and sure enough, there it is.

Will give it a shot once I've got my UCG Fibre (eventually) delivered.

My contract 1Gbps plan will be up next month and I've also moved house. Contacted ST and they offered the following promo:

5Gbps Mesh at Plan at $49.70/mth (U.P. $113.90/mth)

Comes with:
2x Wifi 7 devices (TP-Link BE11000)
Home line
12 months of Disney+ Premium
12 months of Broadband Protect
6 months Amazon Prime
NLT activation charge of $61.04 one time charge to bill for relocation.

They refused to waive the NLT charge. This same promo is also on their website plus additional 10,000 Yuu points. In short, doesn't it make more sense to terminate my plan next month and sign up as a new service?
