Isn’t all boss like that, how to show their worth without all this tangible stuff like continuous work/improvement/ project to allow them to showcase to his/her boss.

my ex boss tied up himself with all his material procession, every level he climbed he get himself tied up with another big ticket purchase.
How he keep up, keep saying yes to his bosses in work lo.
in the end the ground will suffered, it’s either you keep up with the pace and be loaded with endless work or you just give up and give the slot to others.
Now all talk like money fall from sky, no easy money nowadays, better be mentally prepared to be slave if you want material obsessed life so you can show off in the social media.
Nah. Her previous bosses were nice. I even met a few of them.

This one is a downright prick.

Turns out, my wife did not turn in her resignation letter after all. Well, it's her choice.

The retirement option is kept open for her anytime she likes.

I'm single earning 5.5k. I live by myself in a 2 room BTO. I don't need to pay cash for my flat. After CPF deduction, take home 4.4k. I give my parents $500 a month. Insurance, bills and etc total about $800. Transport around $200. Monthly necessities around $200 or less. Balance left about $2700. I save $1000 each month. I have about $1700 to spend each month, that is around $60 a day. So I think $5000 is more than enough if you're single.
$5.5k so little how to survive sia? no car cannot get gf and marry start family. but then so poor better dontch ruin other ppl life.

I find this type of interview pointless when people are paying for different things in their lives.

To be honest, you can live on a salary that allows you to spend just $500 per month on necessities (including electricity, water, and food), as long as your housing is fully paid off. People often need higher salaries because they're paying for a certain lifestyle or expensive property. You can live with less or with more. It really depends on the individual, so it's highly subjective. You can choose whether or not to marry, and the financial burden may be lighter without a family. You can live frugally or be spendthrift..

Mini-stars need millions to sustain their lifestyle because of who they are.

Whether your life will be good or not depends on how you want to live your life.

During my time, no chance. I ate white porridge for dinner with soy sauce when young.

5K isn't a lot, but definitely can raise family. Car, tuition and domestic helper are luxurious.

Last time my father 2-3k can feed 6 people nowadays 2-3k only feed one person

Yes. $5k is not enough.
Even in Canada also not enough.
My two older adult children are earning about $4-6k per month after taxes. They cannot afford to move out on their own. Will need dual income.
I still provide for my family.
but i did move out when i take home less than 3.2k. my rental was 1150 per month. still i managed to save 1700/month. i still travel once every 9 months (not next door country. go out once a week. give my parents money. pay my tuition debt, i still make nice 3 dish 1 soup everyday.

all i am saying is, managing finances is impt skill to have. and a lot of discipline. after 8 years, i own my own private apt. with that pay. By the time i own my place, i was already paying 1350 for rental per month.
it was only after 1 year i move into the new owned apt i started to take home 3800/month.

only towards end 2023 my takehome was near 5k.

How much is your PTE apt? Downpayment how much? Mortgage?
SG one thing is very low mortgage rates . Also low downpayment.

Take home 3.2k is only $38,400 a year. So little.

i started working on and off when i was 16/17.

if you think 38400 is little then bro, u are used to a little comforty life.
before i was 22 i take home only 1400 / month.

20% dwnpayment and 20k loan from parent which i returned few years ago
my point being, to be fair, it is not that difficult to achieve. not easy for sure. I had also encourage acquaintances to do so. and guess what, that fella did better and own 2 ppties.... i still stick with one sold and upgraded

currently my take home is more than 5k, so i had saved for 2-3 years, and managed to get a car.

You started working early. That's good.

I know what it is like. When I first moved to Canada I was working minimum wage job also which was already very hard to get. Take home was around $1800 a month. So I do know.

My first pay in SG is also around $2500 a month only.

What you did was invest. And your friend invested more.

It's not about how much you earn. It is how much you invest. If invest heavily borrow to invest margin accounts mortgages etc that's the way to make life good.

Not work. Not how much you earn. No how much salary you get.

If want to talk salary alone then $5000 is not much.

Hope you get what I mean.

You have done very well. Kudos to you.

I'm looking at motor catamarans 50ft and below.

This is the Aquila 50. I think it starts from USD $2 million.

Definitely not possible now. I could be bankrupt just by berth and maintenance.

I'm just re-igniting a long ago dream for now. A dream of owning a small yacht. Just to take out on overnight weekends to Lazarus island or steer into Marina Bay and wave at tourists.

I still remember when I had tea breaks with the CFO, we would browse his underutilized Bloomberg terminal's POSH text-based marketplace - Classified ads for the verified rich and famous.

So saying, it's still just a dream for now... and it's probably not gonna happen unless AVGO reaches a miraculous 3 trillion cap.

Have you got your power pleasure craft license? 🤔
