If I can comfortably afford it in the future, I would like to own a powered catamaran that can host at least 15 people.

Is there a large difference in sailing a single-hull vs a catamaran?

Not considering sailboats, just powered ones.
Well boss... you need to figure out if you are comfortable sailing one first by completing the course, and renting different boats to test out which is the most suitable for you.

Just like cars. There's a huge difference driving a normal car, bus or prime mover.

Consequently, it is not possible to do a comparison - sailing in open rough seas vs calm waters. Or during a storm.. Need to test sail different types first under different conditions before you put down the money.

Thanks. I don't drive so I have no idea also.

Suppose your intention is to sail around the world or across countries.. Then it would make sense to acquire the necessary skill sets to survive out there.. No 911 available in open seas. Can eventually try to join a hobby club so got experienced people to go sailing together. :o

Most people here making more than that...
Unless EDMW somehow consists of the upper crust of singapore, it's statistically unlikely given median wage in SG is $4.8k, inclusive of bonuses, inclusive of employee CPF, exclusive of employer CPF.

Take away bonuses and it's probably less then $4.5k.
