Yes bro.
I look at it a positive way.
Gonna do a reset
Nothing wrong if a resign colleagues do such manner to the team.
You have to report to your boss about the situation.
See whether he want to take legal action against the guy.
Wait for your boss to arrow you.
If you are arrowed, make an assessment of the damage inflicted and highlight what is missing if possible.
If you cannot handle all the work load alone, tell your boss about it.

moi simpur.. as long as no missing impt docs dat affecting projects in general, just let go,

wat impt, before and after they left, nothing missing on the projects..

if found they purposely deleted files to sabo projects, i believe top management will take action..

i understand from some working files, we can learn or study the ex-corlicks workflow..

but bosses no care, as long as the projects running smoothly, they dowan to know hao to..
I am eagerly waiting for his last day.
I hv told boss we need full reset.
He support me.

why is everyone acting like those files are not company property but their own... suka suka delete ...

this is the culture at smc ?
Cos he is handling those annual , once a year task and special tasks .
We hv zero chance to perform.
Only him.
That's why he knows n he create docs gor himself. Since he's leaving, he deleted those personal documents.

some people don't even handover anything at all. just quit and byebye. you go source and find everything yourself
Yeah, some just let you die, your business.
Very super toxic.
Most coy hod make a mistake.
That is nvr hv periodically review the documents.

Haha noobs since just grad back then.

Boss says what means what. All colleagues doing different thing and everyone keeps quiet.

Learn a lot in harsh environment. Always remember the boss telling me.

"your problem is not my problem. I hire you to give me solutions not problem. If not, why I hire you."
Well said bro....

Machiam when you resign, you will update every document to the latest down to the hour before leaving the company.

This is reality la.

When I left, I'm the only one that knows the system. For past 4 years no documents were done, my boss had the audacity to say he wanted me to do the documents before I leave.

I paid my notice period and left :p

It means your company has crappy offboarding process.
If the handover is not satisfactory, can your HR hold the final month salary ?

Tell you boss you're not going to take over junk. If boss insist, get him to acknowledge with proper email trail.

He can say those are working files?

Even if don't delete, he can purposely link here and link there and mess up the files? Nothing can be done. He can argue saying you corrupt the files.

You click on the folders and you saw the time stamp and dates are few years back...

Inside the folder, outdated docs and procedures . Still have clips....

Is that call handover???

Moderators : Please don't merge to the consolidated thread . Give this post standalone awhile to garnish more comments. I will inform you to merge once done. Your help truly appreciated.
This is not surprising.

I had told of my experiences multiple times here and it might be worse than yours. The retiring fellow deleted all the important docs from the shared folders and did not even inform of his last day (read: zero handover). Backups from IT yielded almost nothing of use. The HOD knew about the last day and did not inform the one taking over (read: me). The deleted-files incident was known to the HOD and nothing was done. We had to build things from scratch again.

The HOD only wants things to get going. Do not have great expectations of your HOD even if he said he'd support you or what. Just do the necessary and be prepared to toil a bit more and kio any sai the departing fellow has left you.

Your colleagues are not your friends. Same as your boss. Just take whatever it comes, do the work, take celery, and FO at the end of the day. Work towards leaving the rat race totally is the way.
