I
Got hand over can laugh already.

My first job, the guy left for some time before I join. All important documents are missing.

Thankfully got the exposure right at the start of my career in the past. Swim or sink, boss told me only give me 1day to familiarise, if files are missing, is my problem, not his. If not hire me for what. :ROFLMAO:
Is TS a kid first time working? If not hire you for what? Solve the shortage.

knowledge sharing I don't mind share, but need to know not to over share.
over share already, boss can easily hire a lower paid guy to take over you, or find ways to automate. might not necessarily be hire lower paid, but maybe boss favor some else and let the person take over your task, so you become less and less useful.
No one will do 100% documentation. Maybe less than 40 to keep yourself relevant and boss need you.

Hmm they no longer current? A lot of the processes I created in 2021 when I first took over are still valid today.
Yes most are valid.
Only those required to perform once a year tasks are completed cannot use.

I joined a coy where the guy in my designation resigned 1.5yrs ago and they wanna restart that role.

zero documents just a random OJT for a weenie part where 80% still can be done based on my past experience.

And I on my own accord, restarted to populate the database with usefu info, drawn out guidelines, research papers, good to know info, protocols etc and thats how i handed over smoothly. It also because I knew I wouldnt be able to tahan long and sure the mgmt find someone to dig out handover material which doesnt exists.... (asked colleagues before but my predecessor didnt even bother to leave anything behind yet mgmt didnt ask, so zero accountability and handover in past)

lotsa work done and effort needed, least I am conscience clear.
In my ex ex coy, we do share knowledge as what you stated : Good To Know as a subject title.

My ex ex hod came up with his suggestions that all must be documented. Not only that, hod will ask one staff with zero knowledge to use the documents to do the task. If the staff able to do, the document is considered pass.

This scenario is quite common ma...
Got some foundation to update files is already very good.

I remember last time my ex company got hr person dulan, during notice period "accidently" print payroll sheet and leave it at the printer let pple see.
For me, even foundation also dnt hv. Just a few sentences and few screen shots that's not matching ..

Usually a proper doc will hv company's logo, header created, content , etc.

Own doc Usually is just plain words or Excel docs.
Even in mnc, not many companies practice using company logo and header unless you are doing contract, billing or quotation related.

But if never save a copy, the supplier or the customer might still have a copy and usually can close one eyes to send you. So it is not end of the world.

you teach the proper way means you are replaceable.
If u teach the shortcut way. They wont know the proper way. Den they will depends heavily on you to do the task.
We must remember, companies still operational even a very smart staff resign...
Nobody is indispensable.
If worst case, get vendor in to help.
Company will pay for the support amd maintenance.

This is normal, me has been tanking handover after handover, all never update, sabo here and there.
When people leaving, especially under duress or unhappy term, sh!t happens. And I am always the one to kio sai.

Because my beh-kan boss knows I cannot run. At 55, very hard to find job one.
Concur.
Another type of staff is wanted to see hod in deep zhit but knowing very well if hod in deep zhit, we also will pull in too. But the staff just light the fire n burn every body .
