For Starhub, you may want to check if the IT show offer is really good or not compared to the existing offers.

Starhub called me last week and asked if i wanted to recontract.

Currently paying about $43 for 1gbps. they offered $45 for 5gbps plan to recontract.

I asked for the 5gbps $29.90 plan and they say its only for new customers.

I rejected recontract and told them i will terminate and port out my DV.

This week on Monday, they called and offered me 10gbps recontract for $38.90 and free tplink HB710 router.

Interesting.
10gbps recontract at S$38.90 per month and free TP-Link HB710 (worth S$192) is a decent recontract offer now.

Actually new users also do not get 5Gbps at S$29.55 per month offer. Rather it is 3Gbps at S$29.55 per month offer, with free HB410 (worth S$120).

Link for the 3Gbps offer. I believe existing user should be able to get it as well.
https://www.starhub.com/personal/forms/hubbing/3gbps-broadband-exclusive.html

You can decide whether to go with the 10Gbps offer or the 3Gbps offer. Different people may have different preferences here.

Just checking if i get the M1 plan with BE58U, i can pair it with the 2 BE3600 mesh right?

https://www.gaincity.com/asus-be3600-wifi-7-dual-band-mesh-bd4-b-2-pk-tb0004506

M1 3Gbps plan at S$29.50 per month is a good option for new sign-up.

Yes you can use the free bundled Asus RT-BE58U (dual band BE3600) with Asus ZenWiFi BD4 (dual band BE3600). Since yours is a new BTO with LAN ports in the rooms, this combination (lowest end combination from Asus WiFi 7 offering) is okay since you can use Ethernet Backhaul.

Main router RT-BE58U in DB Box, as AImesh main router.

Two Asus ZenWiFi BD4 in two rooms as AImesh mesh nodes.

Placement will depend on the floor plan.

Recent experience of porting Singtel Home Line (bundled with fibre) to M1 Fixed Line
1. Ask Singtel to de-bundle Home Line from fibre and give 7-day notice for fibre termination.
2. Next day, ask M1 to submit port-in request to Singtel.

If Singtel Home Line is bundled with fibre when M1 attempts port-in, port-in will fail but Singtel won't voluntarily give reason to M1 or subscriber.

Just got keys to a resale HDB.
To have Ethernet Lan ports in both of my common bedrooms (study and kid room), I would just need to lay Cat7 or Cat8 cables? Are there other factors i should be aware of?

Is below setup optimal and correct?
- Cat cable from ONT at DB box to router in Living room.
- 2 living room Lan ports to the 2 bedrooms
- For the bedrooms port, should it be connected from router or the ONT? How many 3-10gbps port(s) does the ONT have?

Not so important qns
Been on M1 for last 8 years or so at my parent's place, still on 500mbps.. Go with M1 or MR, which has better offerings currently? 3 or 5, 6gpbs okay

Cat 6 cables more than enough actually if want to save cost, unless you want to future prooffffffffffffffffffffffff.
Ain't going to reach Cat 7 speeds anytime soon for consumers at least in the near future.

ONT to router first, then router to Bedroom ports.
Do check out the respective MR/M1 threads, both is fine.
M1 has deal especially since it's Comex but doesn't differ much. Similarly for MR too, usual deals even with Comex.

Lastly, if 500Mbps is sufficient, no point to upgrade unless upgrading yields savings compared to current plan.
Doubt your parents has high usage needs too.

Just to add on, XGS-PON (ONT) is capable of 10Gbps. So basically there will be 1 10Gbps port in a ONT while the rest will not be used. In the case of an ONR, it will usually be 1x10Gbps and 3 or 4 1Gbps ports. depending on the ONR model.

Yup, so what's critical is the router for subsequent downstream instead.
Wouldn't recommend going to ONR though, ONT on those mid range router still better than ONR provided by ISP anytime.

This is an important info for many users, especially for those with a DB Box not in the central location (most likely cases for BTO flat).

1) XGS-PON ONT: single 10G port active, other 1G ports are disabled. Usually you will need to put a router in the DB Box to utilize the room LAN ports (there are workaround but may not be easy for average users). Most power users will go with ONT.

Important fact: you cannot put an unmanaged switch in between the ONT and the main router. That will not work.

2) XGS-PON ONR: single 10G port active, other 1G ports are also enabled. It will act as the main router for your home network. It usually has FW features than typical 10G capable consumer routers. Power users will usually avoid ONR or will bridge the ONR.

Some average users may like ONR due to the fact they can save a router in the DB Box.

The biggest issue with ONR is the security. Of course this can be solved by inserting a dedicated firewall device between the ONR and a switch. This will be for the adventurous folks. From @xiaofan in the thread below.

Will mesh work if each node connects directly to onr?

Onr port 1 - mesh node 1
Onr port 2- mesh node 2

Or do all mesh nodes need to connect through main node which then connects to onr, so just one connection to onr?

One port 1 to mesh node 1
Mesh node 1 lan 2 to mesh node 2

As long as the mesh solution supports Mesh In AP mode, then you can connect all nodes to the ONR.

Typical mesh solution will support Mesh in AP mode, exception is the lousy Google WiFi.

Seems like WC removed 2.5 and now only offers 3gps at $24/mth at comex, NLT and installation waived. sounds like a good deal?

If you do not mind using ONR, then it is a very good deal:
WC 3Gbps plan at S$24 per month, NLT and Installation charge waved.

Read the posts in this page to see the difference between ONT vs ONR.

Anyone happened to see what viewqwest is offering @ comex?

Last day of my current vq subscription (1gbps) is this Sunday. I was initially planning to surrender the VQ hardware this coming Monday & then switch to M1 (6gbps).

The only thing holding me back is both my FTPs are used (2nd port used by SG home line). After surrendering my VQ hardware, it will be at least 7 days (for FTP to be released) before I can apply with M1. It may mean no wifi at home for at least 3 weeks.

There's no recontract offer in my VQ's customer portal. The reasons for switching:

(a) Getting intermittent internet disruption (usually no internet for a few seconds) more frequently nowadays (Bukit Merah area).

(b) M1's $46.90 6gbps + BT10 deal is attractive. Get to upgrade my 4-year-old Deco X20.
