Does your father insured with ElderShield or CareShield Life?

This is good advice. Talk to the Medical Social Worker and they can refer you to AIC and they will help you see what subsidies and support that you can get. There is a lot of support that one does not know about.

Go to a good miad agency. Tell them excactly your needs and requirements and they usually can find a suitable helper for you. May costs quite a lot through the agency but I think it gets a load off you.

Do you mean as the person that has dementia being the employer of the helper with no sponsor? If so, how to? Can't even remember own self. At late stage, can't even talk, walk, move, eat or do anything on his/her own. Spend whole day laying on bed and rely on others to keep him/her alive.

As an employer, you cannot be suffering from dementia. So must get another employer who can be the children, siblings etc. The problem here is the FDW must reside in the same household as the employer. MOM is worried that the FDW might be abused if the employer has dementia.

So for those with elderly parents, please engage a FDW earlier. My mum had a fall 3 years ago and is now diagnosed with Parkinson’s which affected her mobility. Before her discharge from hospital, the FDW must undergo a serious of training like change of diapers, bathing, transfer from bed to wheelchair etc.

Learnt cooking yourself. Maid can never cook to your likes. Slow wise is expected. Maid is just employee. So if she is honest and clean that's the best you expect from the maid. My ex maid got hiv after coming to Singapore.

How about get her to wash, chop, cut all ingredients (first must teach how you want it cut into). Prepare ready liao and you do the cooking. After that she does the washing. Cooking doesn't take long, is the preparation and washing. And you plan the menu not her. Ai helper got helper problems

my dad is still mobile. not immobile or wheelchair bound that kind.

So she can still do some housework and cooking la.

But i never ask her to cook every meal. only dinner. and its not everyday

some of the housework i also help to do. She never bao all the housework alone.
