Not only that. I also got my app2 replaced under 1st year warranty for sound related issue. Apple store did not find anything wrong but replaced it anyway.I believe your "knocking" sound is a manufacturing defect and apple are offering free replacements for sets that are manufactured during that time frame regardless you have AC+ or not. I replaced mine back then (I had AC+), my friend whom didn't have AC+ also got her APP1 replaced for free.
