I believe your "knocking" sound is a manufacturing defect and apple are offering free replacements for sets that are manufactured during that time frame regardless you have AC+ or not. I replaced mine back then (I had AC+), my friend whom didn't have AC+ also got her APP1 replaced for free.

https://support.apple.com/en-sg/airpods-pro-service-program-sound-issues
Not only that. I also got my app2 replaced under 1st year warranty for sound related issue. Apple store did not find anything wrong but replaced it anyway.

This is why I feel safe buying Apple products.

First year limited warranty, Apple can deny you of support at Apple Store if you bought from somewhere else. But AppleCare changes that.

I believe that the 1-year limited warranty is internationally recognized regardless of where the product was purchased.

I had an iPhone troubleshooting while touring Tokyo many years back. It was a HK set iPhone.

No black and white but has past expriences.
As long as bought from somewhere else and never purchase AC+ and recorded, Apple has the rights to reject the 1st year limited warranty.
I just searched for their t&c. Apple has to service even if the product is bought overseas. Eg a Japanese MacBook in Singapore.

Got black and white? As long as genuine product, Apple will service it. Even if bought overseas. Apple products have global warranty.
Some people got denied when purchasing from other places. It's all past real life experiences.

There is a chance you get denied. I have been denied before for an iPhone I got from Singtel. I got the matter resolved after going through some hoops.

From my experience, this is the case. Had issues with my iphone bought from jp after a few months. It was replaced with a local set.

Apple will and must service the product even if it’s under the limited warranty from anywhere in the world. Serial number will be able to check whether the product is genuine regardless where it is purchased from.

If ever Apple reject you due to limited warranty, look for the store manager.

Ya, I had to approach some people I knew back then for help. Lucky I built the relationship with the staff there on 27 May 2017

Did Apple inform you the reason why was it denied? Quite unheard of apple denying service unless you did unauthorized modifications to your device.

Don't remember now. It was a 1 for 1 replacement. Launch day, so if there are unauthorised modifications, it is Singtel...

I remembered I walked from Singtel Comcentre to Apple Orchard.

If you didn’t buy it from Apple Store, you won’t be able to get a brand-new replacement there.

It will be a RMA replacement set.

Previously, my Singtel set got issue, and they asked me to go to the Apple Store instead.

When I went to the Apple Store, they told me they couldn’t do a one-to-one brand-new set replacement. only brown box replacement.

I asked them to give me a letter saying they couldn’t replace it for me.

Then I went back to Singtel, and they did the one-to-one replacement for me instead

Something like that. They refused to resolve the problem. I took the brown box instead.

Because the set from SingTel the imei number is not under Apple Store. So they can’t refund/replace.
only can do brown box as rma.
by right SingTel should be the one replacing the lemon set.

If want to buy at $249, just take the risk lor. I doubt their QC will be that bad. At this pricing, it is a steal leh especially when it is just launched

if want to worry that it is DOA, and u get a refurbished set, just pay full price to Apple. This will ensure you to get a 1 to 1 replacement with a brand new retail box if DOA

Ya, it makes sense. But back then I think I was only in my mid 20s, still blur blur. So took the brown box. But then not bad. I learnt about Apple Refurbished and how good they are.

I believe that's the norm for out-of-box faulty sets for any apple devices bought from authorized sellers. That's why some people exclusively buy from apple store, for their 14 days return policy.

I not sure about now, but back during iphone 7 days i had a faulty device out-of-box while recontracting with starhub outlet. I pointed out the issue and they exchange it on the spot for me. Duno what's the SOP these days.

Apple store if you want the apple store experience with return policy. Authorized sellers if you prefer value (sales/flash sales)
