8-Year Wait For Yishun BTO Sparks Frustration Online

Contract period is 2029.. so is there incentives for contractor to complete early? Bto on average takes about 4 years to complete. We should see them start working soon for this Yishun project.

The question would be why hdb gave long time frame for those 2022 projects.

if a bto can be completed in 4–5 years, why would the contractor purposely delay it to 8 years? if i were the contractor, i'd want to finish the job quickly, collect full payment, and move on to the next project.

how is it easier for the kid? if the parents are staying in the west now but the new BTO is in the east, wouldn't it actually be easier after they move into their new home? and technically, you're supposed to be staying at the registered address , not just using it to enrol in the school.

Another similar response from a Redditor popped up online, this time explaining that completion times depend on factors like site and soil conditions, design complexity, and number of units.

"When the area opened for balloting it was already stated that TOP is 2028/2029. If you can't wait that long then ballot for what?" another Redditor commented.

This the latest photo posted yesterday on google maps. The google maps satellite view was from 28 may 2025.

From the photo one of the blk already beginning pilecap works. Estimate pilecap and ground floor takes 2-3 months. Then first floor 1-2 months. 2nd floor onwards about 2 weeks per storey. This project only 14 storey. By next year aug should be able to reach roof level.

If the contractor do not drag should be able to handover end of 2027.

The bto need clear the land and expose to hot sun will be very warm too

back in 2020-22 all bto projects got longer dates due to covid measures etc.

nobody build a hdb that needs close to 10 years.

The house upon collect key then consider is yours
If you are jobless cannot serve the loan,hdb can forfeit the flat too..
If you do not have enough loan,use cash top up before can collect key....if you dnt have $$$ upon collect key,hdb dnt give you key...no $$$ no talk

why bring up shenzhen?

if a project needs more time because of certain conditions like soil issues or other site challenges then there’s nothing wrong with a longer construction period. and if delays were due to covid restrictions, which are no longer in place, things should eventually speed up and the project may be handed over earlier.

for now, HDB’s stated completion date remains the same maybe later on, when things are clearer, they can give a more accurate handover date.

The aranda breeze bto beside launched at exactly same time already 8-9 storeys. Same clear forest and similar soil conditions as the delayed site.

From google earth 11 jun 2024 photo, seem like the aranda breeze contractor already doing pile load test.

plot twist, they dig halfway then found oil lah. now don’t know want to build BTO or set up oil rig.
