how much of a premium should you pay to get more VRM for ur mobo to have lower temp for cpu and what's the minimum required for a amd cpu such as 9800x3d or 9950x3d?
2*6 VRM? or should u pay $100 bucks for 2*8?
vrm isnt as simple as just topology, the components used matter as much as the design. a 6 phase vrm using discrete mosfets will almost certainly run hotter than a 6 phase using power stages. as long as u avoid the trash tier models, the power delivery on most modern motherboards is usually adequate, and such midrange models generally dont cost that much more, plus u get better features on top.
Considering getting 5070 or 9070.
Any advice/deals?
see if 12/12 or xmas sales got good vouchers ba. which way u go depends on whether u plan to play raytracing titles, the 5070 offers more raytracing performance now. the 5070 also consumes less power, but not significantly so. both cards cost around the same these days but the amd card offers more raster performance and vram, which may help the 9070 in the long run.
Hey guys, I checked recent prices for PC parts in Amazon/shopee and compared against retailers like aftershock ready made rig. I noticed that aftershock is about 20% cheaper. Diy is not really worth nowadays
performance per dollar is definitely better going prebuilt, but whether that is "worth it" depends on ones definition of worth it. prebuilts definitely dont offer the variety of parts vs ownself diy, and thus may not be a good choice if ur dead set on a certain selection of parts (especially true for itx builds). the experience of building can be worth it for some people as well.
not sure if theres any hidden secrets with these "discounted" ready made rigs..
most times the parts are barely adequate for the job, eg budget mobos, ssds and power supplies. this may mean lower reliability over time. to obfuscate the fact that lower quality parts have been used, some companies rebrand the parts used or straight up dont even disclose the specific parts. warranty periods on offer may also be shorter than what they should be.
