Completed my first ever marathon in 3.32.50. Will wait for official time but should be around there.

One toilet break at 7km. Around 1 min+ gone, bottleneck at 12-14km. Actually I did make up enough time to finish under 3.30 but from 37km onwards,I decided to listen to my body and just finish safely. My Coros HM and earbuds suddenly turn off at 10km.

Was anyhow refuelling also so that’s another thing to take note of for future races. Kop 6 packs of Amino Sarus Gels. Around 30 dollars saved haha.

Curious with the who are the SG MArathon PTe LTd.

Most interesting piece of the news is they appointed Ben Khoo as race director for next year. Guess he might not have time for his own triathlon or races? The planning itself takes a whole year. He knows runners requirement for fueling and hydration, which frankly I think Iron man did a good job here. But for cooling, I prefer if they have cooling mist arc which happened is a distant past. Splashing water on whole body make your body too drenched. Maybe offer better solid food other than pretzel.

Ms Tan is CEO of SCORE. Remember the 1st edition of Garmin run here. Baggage....

The co-chief executive officers of SG Marathon, Mr Leon Lai and Ms Patricia Tan, told CNA that they hope to turn the annual event from a perceived “event of inconvenience” into a “cultural event” that people in Singapore look forward to and are eager to support.

Mr Lai and Ms Tan, who are both runners, have been to their fair share of overseas marathons

Getting the right people on board is crucial. To that end, Mr Lai said his crew has a wealth of experience – from Mr Liang Wei Song, who had organised past editions of the race and will be appointed as the race director, to national triathlete Ben Khoo.

Sorry for the late reply haha bro, only managed to run 312 this year but I’m not too bothered by it and probably run a overseas race or two next year for sub 3.

sorry to hear about your cramps during the race, rest well and hope you’ll have a good race next year bro!
still good, 3:12! Thinking whether to just focus on half and shorter for next year.

I think Ben is advisory role. Liang Wei Song is the race director.

a few points in the video I whole heartedly agree
1) I base my running form off asian female elite runners especially those for 10km. So essentially i run like a gu-niang :ROFLMAO:. For us folks that have been sitting on our ass for the last 30 years, unrealistic/impractical to expect the grace and power in the stride of elite male runners.
2) i only started to see improvement in stride length after doing speed work from my 5k and 10k challenge last year and this year. even then the improvement are very slow and modest.

talking about midsole bottoms out, can i check with those with Puma Deviate Nitro 2, when do yours' start bottoming out? Mine from 350km forefoot, especially right, starts feeling uncomfortable. Having past 400km, i no longer run in them, just use for jalan jalan at times.

I have this shoes for $79 only. But it's only 111km. The upper too thick for comfort in Singapore weather for any run that is more than 30 minutes.

I use it for my home-office-home-office commute easy runs, difficult to say but compared to my newer pairs used for real runs, i think after 9 months or so. So 22 working days times 4.5k x 9 = 891km.
This is in addition to the number of steps that i walk around in my work, so that could be approx 6k or so, really difficult to separate between office jalan and the run/walks.

But yeah, significant bottoming out, not say bottoming out but when you A-B left right wear between the old pair and a new/newer pair, there is confirm a very feelable difference between the 2. For discerning runners basing off all the nuances in feel, confirm cannot accept one.
Actually not only bottoming out, even the stack height has changed liao, even when in an uncompressed state.

For me i am not a true blue runner aiming for pure run performance....... so ok anything goes.
I still have 1 more pair to use (total 4 pairs of DN2, used 2 and the 3rd pair now also more or less gonna change).

Issue is that i dont really have many other running shoes that i can wear for home-office use. Maybe, just maybe the NB Rebel 3 but that one not so comfy for normal walking coz slightly cramped toebox height, though as a racewalking shoe it is decent. Last one in the list is probably the Novablast 3 TR, which has bloody thick rubber outsole (TR = for light trail). Before DN2 was 1080v13 (or is it v12, cant rem).

Oh i have 1 more Puma DN Elite v1 but that one cannot use for office walking.

But i guess yeah, if you want for running performance, possibly half of that, or 450km, probably can feel it being lao hong liao. So you might be correct (also you are heavier than me?)

a random question just popped up in my head.
to someone not trained. which is more dangerous/risky HM or FM?

me think (pure speculation not based on facts)
HM --> cardiac injury risk cos all run like hero cos they think distance is short just endure
FM --> heat related injury risk cos they know very long distance will not cheong.. but even brisk walking for 42k unconditioned under hot sun.. can get heat stroke.

Dont run until zombified state can liao

Is scared got any perm damage.

Repeat my ex-colleague's story. Ironman (iirc 70.3 ie half ironman), heat injury, 2 weeks hosp + ICU, 6 months then "fully recovered" and cleared most of the cognitive / slow fog effects. Not even sure if ultimately went back to 100%, coz persona also changed.

While looking at the scsm 2025 result . In the women full marathon top -100 category. Happened to see a Singapore female runner in the F60-69 age group ran a 3:59:34 timing . Her result really inspired me to run till even older than I should .

just look at 周润发. 70 years old and going strong. don't have to run very far or very fast. Just need to be consistent as we age 💪

yah, upper and the padding around ankle too thick for me during summer, used mainly during autumn, winter and spring periods. S$79 is a very good price for this shoe tho.

Just did another 5km run on the 小鲶, it cruised really well, picked up pace very well too when i went all out chasing after a PMD @ below 5:00 pace for some 300m. Felt good at 7:30-8:00 pace when i did a 1km warm down slow run.
Didn't quite like to land rear foot cos my supination tendencies. Did not feel good doing slow forefoot strike as well due to the rocker (feet slide down slightly). Ok when picked up pace and ground contact was minimum, as i didn't feel the discomfort on my toes. Best is midfoot strike.
Body still adapting to go longer distance. Hopefully weekend can do a 10km or more to know this shoe better.
