only if you are doing programming work or some niche use case that linux excel in.
if not, just use windows with wsl and docker and then rest of windows machine is good for consumer activities.
best of both worlds.
I can do everything I need on Linux and I don't need to buy a new laptop for Windoze 11. :D

apart from the 0.1% nerds, no one really cares tbh.

most ppl jus use their com to watch video, browse internet, use excel, play games. they dont give a fk things they dont even click on.

true. That's why Macbook is good ... coz performance is independent of the power source and long battery life for outdoor not connected to desk.
It used to be VS studio was not the same functionality on the Mac. And some dependency. But with modern coding language like react and next.js. Everything is platform agnostic and it's more joy to use on the Mac then PC/Linux. Drag and drop and links even on terminal. Claude code and now cowork.

got nice explanation from this video ...

Yes and when they make it sure that they can force updates to our computers whenever they want, it's just disgusting removing user's rights to our own device.

There’s once i woke up early to edit some PowerPoint slides but the windows update came and broke my workflow then switch to linux desktop. It’s really good and polished. U can install updates at your will, no forced AI shenanigans, awesome applications etc. heck u can even play steam in linux

To me the greatest issue with window 11 is the ridiculous amount of bloat… I often have to debloat before I will use it for playing games…. And with the growth of steamOS I might switch over to it as it matures

for productivity based work I will never use windows… I prefer macOS for that

of course you can.
i am just saying.. linux is niche use case .. for programmers.

but windows and mac can dual use easily nowadays.
At the end of the day you still need to see what stack you are developing on what.

If your projects are .NET, Microsoft discontinued Visual Studio on MacOS, yes VS Code got extension but has its quirks … best is still use Visual Studio on Windows.

For the typical office workspace, windows is still preferred as it has the most softwares compatibility. For personal work I prefer something that just works without having to do workaround. Same like I don’t understand why people like to buy phone without google apps and have to meddle with it. Unless it is a hobby. Prefer to spend my time chit chat here, play games or do research on stocks.

this is why the steam machine could be one of the most impt devices for linux? if it functions well both as a game console and a desktop pc linux apps could see much improvement/polish and having more options would serve end users well ^^

recently the 25H2 updates caused my sharing to be broken. Use to be able to share folders between the PCs in my house and also printers. After update, cannot share liao..

After google and trying all the methods, cannot be solved. Got comment says Microsoft purposely remove the ability to share for "enhanced security".. really kns

switched back to 21H2, then back to normal
OS is too complex, better not try to extend the functions, its breaks here and there with updates
just make use of windows user friendliness to access more stuff and apps

unix variants are much more niche really, only for those with energy and time to tinker with it.

if i had to switch, i would just switch to Apple macbook.
Linux is a b.tch to use ... for a normal consumer device.

For normal people who are not programmers, please just switch to Macbook.
So, using other OS got a steep learning curve?

Not just that. The force sign up for account through out. Ads in startup. Cortana or whatever "AI" they push last time is turn on by default. - your data is automatically shared. Now is what ?
