Isn't it the same, when you see any estabishment, having a manager or someone with the authority to hire staffs, the in charge will usually hire the people of his/her same race, nationality? Its happening everywhere. Even in my company, those bloody burmese starts recommending their fellow friends all the way from their home country. Basically, EVERY single thing can be link to those retards, procuring, they get from their friends working in another co, outsourcing, same story, transport, basically EVERY bloody thing...

We have to thank our gov for this actually...

Except for singaporean hirers, who will go out of their way NOT to hire singaporeans.

Uniquely singapore.

Government-linked companies are different. Even though connections count a lot in every company, it matters a lot more there. The people holding those top positions may not be the best qualified for the job. And the government wonder why many successful Singaporeans opt to migrate to other countries...

BTW, I wouldn't classify what happened at Temasek as a honest mistake.

talent or cowhide? :D

but conversely, many employees do not understand the difference between not carrying balls and not supporting the boss. It is fine to speak out clearly your objections in direct challenge to your boss but after all the debates and arguments are over and final decision is made by your boss, regardless your opinion against the decision, you have to support your boss to the hilt [except where the actions required are illegal, immoral, unethical and those sorts of thingamajigs]. You won't go far if insubordination [esp covert rearguard/sniping ones] are mainly due to just plain disagreement over opinion. Even your fellow peers may become wary of your backhand-saboteur personality despite generally disagreeing with despotic bosses.
Talent bro, talent.

Its not that easy to be a apple polisher. Most bosses like people who polish their boots no doubt, but they still need results 1 way or another. A good apple polisher need to know how to play the ultimate political game, need to know what his / her boss likes ultimately, and needs to work with his / her boss a feel good feeling.

Personally, I can't do that. This is why I have no doubt, that I have the uptmost respect for people like them haha :D

OK... Singaporeans can pack up and move to Antarctica liaoz... :D

If Singaporeans feel that their talent and efforts are of waste. don't waste your time and life serving the nation. Knowing your garment will never ever help you at all. All talk no action. Migrate to a country where they value you.

If one is rich, one person hardly leaves for money, unless its to expand your own business loh. If not, most of the time, rich people rather stay at their home country because they are familar mah...

Ah, the point is they are welcomed almost anywhere with open arms ;) If locally there's trouble, well, off I go in my private jet and settle elsewhere. The place where they stay is always green.

Even an uneducated person can get into another country with luck or circumstance... They are usually called illegal immigrant or asylum seeker or refugee :s22:

Few years back I applied for a job and I was selected. I was very happy as the pay was more than double and the job cover the whole region. When I told my colloque I am leaving for that company he told me he also applied for that post but no news yet. On the first day I start work there was a ft for the same post. His qualification were higher than two of us but willing to take up the post. The post does not require his qualification and it leave me with lousy feeling the competition is not a level playing field. My ex colleague can perform better than the ft any time.

The moral of the story is we are losing job to ft because is not a level playing field and in this case it also deprive my ex colleague the opportunity to gain experience and when this ft go back they become our competitor to Sg but have gain the experience in Sg
