I really don't understand your point. I said that he MAY be liable to pay more and this is indeed true in alot of cases. I did not say its entirely true. Those are your words.

If you want to add further, I would say that your previous attempts at spamming the thread with overshades and other specs are truly unproductive to the discussion of these threads. If someone should guess, maybe your contact is in fact yourself.

Please don't try to act smart and I suggest if you want to criticize, please go and read people's post carefully first. :s8:

Wads ur problem??? I was just sharing my past experiences not criticizing and you are so worked up?

So it makes you real smart to bring up a non related issue!? (Anyways is dealt with between the admin and me, non of your concern!)

I have made my effort of helping someone in this forum whom need a geniune help (Hang_Terra).

Oh and for sure you are the one that is working in this industry not me, so that sets us thinking whos the one trying to pull in business!

So grow up and yes dont try to be a smart alec by accusing others. PERIOD!:s22:

http://opticsnvision.blogspot.com/

-1.67 Ultrathin lens-$80 (recommended for degree above 6.00)

-1.74 Super ultrathin lens-$170 (recommended for degree above -8.00)

-Polycarbonate multi-coated lens-$90 (recommended for rimless)

-Photochromatic lens-$90 (Grey or Brown)

-Transitions (as Advertised on TV)-$140

-Multi-coated Progressive lens with frame-$168 onwards

-Polarized lens (grey)-$140 (recommended for driving & water sports)

We will process the spectacle (Cut) and deliver back to your door step by Standard postage (FOC)

U guys think it is reasonable? can we use it as bench mark... to compare price of lens offered by other shop?
not want to start flame war, benchmark just serve as a guidline for comparison, not saying it give best price in SG.

I've never used my position to gain any sales or advantage whatsoever with regards to selling lenses or spectacles. Nor have I revealed anything that would have been of commercial benefit to me.

Sure, keep up your attitude and see how you sell your stuff. Good luck with your trolling and spamming. I have no reason to argue with your further, seeing that you have little comprehension skill and don't talk logic based on the way your read threads and act.

Seems like winning this by any means is so important to you, I am not going to reply anymore and just let you win. I'll prefer to stay to topic.

And since we are back to topic, I would discourage people from getting overshades as they tend to be very inconvenient and bulky for most people, not to mention they can be heavy and can cause pressure on the temple areas. Also, the extended vertex distance may cause slight distortion and gaps would mean dust may collect between the prescription lens and the shades. If needed, it would be better that someone wears a pair of prescription sunglasses or a clip on.

just bring my rimless spec to make lens. polycarb multi-coat for $80. (including workmanship of attaching lens to spec). usu. i see many optical shop like to charge extra (usu. $20) for attaching lens to rimless specs. so more, they discovered i have asti, but did not charge extra for lens.

your hi-index 1.67 lens only $80! thats is dirt cheap. The cheapest, I found out is $120. I would like to try on another pair of my rimless spec... but i heard that lens break easily on rimless specs unless u use polycarb..

I went OPTIC *8 ask how much to make lens,
the staff told me depends on the power degree.
Told her mine is 350, then she said $130.
I ask no further liao coz I think is rip-off...
Am I right arnot about the ***-off price?
$130 can make 1.67 index lens, rite?
Is 350 degree need 1.67? If my left eye is ~150 degree then will be cheaper?

If it's normal lenses yea that's a ripoff, but if polycarbonate that's roughly the quoted price.

I went to the spectacles shop at Cathay level 1, was quoted more than $300 for polycarbonate lenses with hi-index and multi-coat. :s22:
For sure that's a ripoff.

My grandmother made me a pair of new frames on wednesday and I collected them. However they're calvin klein frames and I don't wear 'designer' frames at all. I feel really bad for these frames and want to pay her back for them and at the same time don't want to hold on to these frames because firstly no one in my house wears these frames (we wear cheaper frames) and secondly there's no point keeping the frames.

Honestly, i think many people would say "get used to them" or "just wear them" but i'm not the kind of person who goes for these branded stuff so i'm really reluctant to wear them and also have my grandmother buy something like this for me. What i am going to do is find a suitable cheaper pair of spectacles and cut those lenses to those frames so i'll be left with just these frames themselves. I have spoken to my grandmother about doing so and she is fine with it and I'll pay her back for the specs, but for the mean time:

Do you know of any place who would buy these almost brand-new 2nd hand frames?

They're Ck 182 fames.

If you do have anything could you pm me or sms me (preferbly) at 81639783

Thank you so much.

hey all just to follow up on this. I didn't manage to find anyone to get/buy/take the spectacles from me, and i haven't had the time to transfer the lenses onto a cheaper frame. I'm still wearing my old ones and the frames are still brand new. My exams just ended so i'll be buying a new frame (cheap metal) for the lenses but i'll have this frame left. I'll give it away for a small token or give it away altogether if anyone wants, if you're willing to meet up with me. It's brand new. I just don't want to be reminded of this and also i can't give it to my family members cause they'd think me and my grandma were crazy to spend "that much" (well not alot compared to other people but quite a bit for us) so i'm more than willing to let it go to someone else. Sorry if this is posted in the wrong area or anything. As before you could sms me or pm me. Thanks all.

Hmm.. if i purchased frames in places like Orchard for brands such as Chirstian Dior, Ray-ban etc. , would the price be much more expensive as compared to other shops which carries these brands too?

Can i purchase frame in a particular shop and make the lens at another shop? Any1 can guide me with this =/ ? :look:

Ok. The prices at Orchard will normally be more expensive, if the service is good and you're happy with it, then why not. Some people are extremely happy with a shop even if they need to pay abit more because whenever you pass by a shop, they remember your name, offer you free change of nosepads and ultrasonic cleaning etc.

You defnitely can buy frames from one place to do in another shop. However, some shops pair it with a lens promotion and sell it to you cheaper as a set. Also, when you see certain shops tell you their lens price is lower, you need to ask which lab they are using, the type of lens etc. I won't name names but some shops use lower quality labs and the edges, mounting and coating etc won't be as good even though prices are better. Some people just simply ask for say high index multicoat and can get price ranges as much as 200-300 differences and think the shop that quote the highest is ripping you off.

If you are just looking for a particular frame that a shop has, you can take a look inside which will have the model no and color code. Remember them and take them to your regular optical shop and if they carry the brand, chances are they can find their agent to get the spectacles for you.
