Have you guys seen YSP-2200? It looks very tempting.
http://sg.yamaha.com/en/products/au...gital-sound-projector/ysp-2200__g/?mode=model

Anyone know the price of this model in SG?
Since Yamaha post in on their SG website, it has to be somewhere. It also seems Yamaha is going to launch an online store soon.

Last checked with Audio House at Liang Court yesterday cause I was also very keen on this model. The person from representing Yamaha said it should be in after Chinese New Year, but I got poisoned by him and hoot the YSP-4100 instead... The sound was solid for the sound bar. Also got a older sub to go along with it. ;)

take note this soundbar has no sub-woofer. the performance cant be good.

It come with a sub woofer. It since like you only base on web info, maybe you can drop by suntec carrefour to hear the live set there then give some commend.

anyway from what i can gather regarding the akira soundbar, i have 3 things i dislike:
1) too tall since it has to host a dvd player. it will block almost all current panel's infra-red sensor which is usually below the panel. unless your panel is wall mounted with enough clearance below.
2) only DVD, no bluray thus no upgrade path.
3) no support for other AV connection/input. (since no mention of it in the website).

soundwise? no idea, will have to listen to judge. i will think it will sound similar to sonic-gear's soundbar.

yeah havent seen the real thing yet. i wont be surprised that they will only sell this through their online store, since other retailers - to be honest - arent featuring yamaha products well.

This YSP-2200 can be preview at facebook.com/ymasia but it is going to launch soon i heard. This month before CNY.

One point to note, this model cannot be wall-mounted. If you are looking for something that can be mounted on the wall, see other models not this.

Do you know roughly how much it cost ?

Does it support most sound decoding ? coz I have some downloaded movie decoded with DTS and can't be played on my LG TV's built-in USB port/player.

Thanks

Hi fren,
I heard CT350 only supports the Dolby digital sound decoding .. will this be an issue if more surround format is required ?

Been searching high and low for CT150 myself as well, after reading so much from this thread. Sadly, the one I spotted was sold to a good persistent buyer here at 300. LOL

Anyway, for all keen buyers. Just spotted CT-350 over at BD Yishun. No ready stock so have to order and get it transferred from another branch which I don't know where. Asked about getting the display set but got no offer. Simply got the answer: as this model is not discontinued yet, we don't offer any discount on display set. Most we can throw in a free delivery tomorrow after we pack it up for you.

Almost at the verge of buying the CT-350 just now but still scouting for CT-150 for a better lower bargain. Anyone selling their to upgrade? ^^

Hi everyone,
I am looking and considering Yamaha's YHT-S400 which also cost around the price of Sony's CT-350.

In such cases, would someone give opinion which is the better buy or with better sound ?

Yeah, get it at Parisilk at $828.

Both YHT-S400 and HT-CT350 would be similar in terms of performance as both rely on DSP to create virtual surround (without using beaming).

Listen to both to judge yourself.

Take note YHT-S400 has a component-style receiver+sub and HT-CT350 has a floor-standing receiver+down firing sub. The location of where you place this sub may determine which would be a better choice.

wow that is cheap

where do u bought it?

i almost wanted to buy from amazon.. cost abt $450 + shipping

most place i see only have ct350 which is about $850+

ha $300 is very misleading. Those are display sets & those brothers are dam good at bargaining. Guess can sweet talk bird from the tree or gf/wife to xxxx.
New ones are at $599. & its also discontinued, so see your chance of finding 1. Was told replace by 350 (a bit weird).
I hope Sony comes out with a new model.

no, HT-CT350 supports both dolby digital and DTS. it doesnt decode those lossless formats (aka HD Audio).

anyway not an issue for lossless decoding, as many good bd players can decode them and send out the audio as pcm down the hdmi cable. the sony soundbar can handle multi-channel pcm.

getting a soundbar will not help - it depends can the LG tv send out dts bitstream. I doubt it can.

I understand that , thats why I am considering getting a Media Player cabable of DTS,AC3 decoding and then connect to a supported soundbar or AV receiver and bypass the TV speakers altogether...

right now, I simply use a software to convert DTS to AC3 so that it can be played on the TV.

Thanks for the info.
I am not sure about that as well, but I read from DL (Digital life, 15 December 2010,pg 18) and there is a review on the CT350 that says it supports only the "Dolby Digital audio format". -- But I guess you might be right.. I might have Interpret it.

It does have many good reviews though...

it's in the region of 1.7 to 2K. btw, it's using a passive subwoofer. sound projector is powered by the subwoofer. if the subwoofer dies. ur ysp is dead. it might be better to stick with the conventional 5.1 ;)

if YSP2200 is indeed S$1.7K to S$2K, then it's not worth getting. from other reviews, the price paid doesnt beat the HT-CT150/350 by a big difference.

if it's not, I wouldn't dare to speculate. :)

which is why, a conventional 5.1 system will be more of a sound investment at that price or the CT-350 for it's lower price.

why would yamaha produce YSP2200 with only 16 drivers, when their previous sound projector models have much much more than that? their first YSP-1 has 40 drivers!

due to price competitiveness? slimness?
