Opennet just done installing the fibre optic terminal point for me a moment ago.
Both chinese, don't really know if they are from local or msia but nevertheless they are super friendly and well mannered.
They are late for about 1 hr, my appointment was at 4PM and they came at 5PM.
But they kept apologizing to me, made me feel so paiseh.
Then they asked me where I wanna install the TP, I told them my room....
Without questioning, they went ahead to do it.
I told them to do a new trunking for me to run the cable from main door to my bedroom.
Everything swee swee, trunking nicely done and sealed up swee swee. Great job!
Then I offered them drinks...

Overall, it took about 2 hrs to get the job done including testing of the TP. :D
Satisfy customer here!

Btw, here is the reading.... I not so sure whether this reading is good anot though, but the guy doing the test told me, "this is not good BUT very good."

Test Measurement. 1310nm - 0.57, 1490nm - 0.45, 1550nm - 0.44.
Anyone understand the reading? Thanks!
After they left, I straightaway switched on my cabletv and net, everything in order. :D

u mean u straight away run your tv and net on the fiber?

No. What I meant was turning on my topset box by starhub to check if there is any disruption to the channel after the opennet guys do the job. It is to see if my cables got damage anot by the opennet staffs. :)

So after they install the TP they would test the signal strength on the spot?

So the best option still install at the living room in which close to the TV?Have 6 power point there so I guess this is the best option?

1310 1490 1550 is the optic wavelength. Ur reading is actually very good in optical loss. But of coz its with reference to where they input the testing source.

Is higher reading better, or lower better?
My test shows : 1310-0.43, 1490-0.31, 1550-0.23.
Was afraid low signal may give rise to problems in future service activation.

My reading is 1310 - 1.07, 1490 - 0.93, 1550 - 0.78. Doesn't look good, so does this mean I better off sticking with adsl?

its still way within spec don't worry.
the loss budget for GPON is way higher than the 1db you're experiencing.
