Hmmm... The more recent laying of fiber isn't as optimal as the previous.

The newer fiber cores are not laid in an optimal distance due to the path used. The new core is laid in metal trunking along the ceiling of pavements at ground level of block and goes down at some specific ends of the block to go underground and crosses the carpark road to the next block.

While fiber is not as sensitive to distance as copper (due to the signal is different nature), I do two concerns:

Concern 1: Will the above discrepancy results in slightly higher latency (e.g. few milliseconds)?
Concern 2: Will the above mentioned discrepancy results in a disadvantage to newer OpCos?

1. latency unlikely to increase by much, considering that light can travel 1km in 1/299800second. 1ms by comparison is 1/1000
2. maybe of concern will be path-loss esp at the biggest exchange here aka amk

Hi viewqwest

I have have TP installed by Opennet this afternoon.

I would like to check with u how fast I am able to hook up with internet access via fibre once I have made a application to your company?

Also how long is the fibre patch cord that is given for the connection between TP and ONT? May I have a 5 meter patch cord? =:p

Although the TP has been installed by OpenNet we would have to confirm if the back end cabling has been done. Once you home is updated as ready for service by OpenNet. It normally takes 2 to 3 weeks for OpenNet to activate the circuit for us. We will be able to give you a more accurate date once we receive your application.

The patch cord that we supply is 3m long. If you require a longer one. You would need to find one at Sim Lim Square.

The relocation charges are $200 pro-rated against the first 12 months of the contract.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I'm a no contract subscriber. Do i have to pay $200 at a go?

You have the option of paying the $200 or terminating and signing up again. In which case the new location would result in the lesser charge of registration fees and activation fees.

same here, very slow loading or not loading, but the weird finding is direct connection (without router) works fine...

same for hidemyass.com also not working behind routers

both use the same cachefly.net server

Name: arstechnica.cachefly.net
Address: 204.93.150.150
Aliases: static.arstechnica.com

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: hidemyass.cachefly.net
Address: 204.93.150.150

however with the same router config on starhub fiber, both the page load without any issue. not sure is zhone issue or VQ connection issue
