Got my Fibrenet installed today. The serviceman was eh. I think ViewQwest can benefit from communicating more clearly what its plans entail. The IPTV will NOT be installed on your behalf - my serviceman just told me briefly how to install it and left. Furthermore, there's a limited distance to how long the Zhone Router can stretch if you're intending to use a wired connection - you have to supply your own LAN cable if your computer is more than a few metres away from the router (which has to be near the FTP).

On top of that, the guy who answered my call from IT support said that all ports are open by default on the router. Once you log in to the router, you assume all responsibility and any future servicing will require payment on your end. Can I confirm if this is true?

Speedwise, the connection was really good, but not anywhere near 10 or even 20 mbps. Even on recent TV torrents from eztv.it, I went up to 4-5 mbps max. Also got randomly disconnected from a friend's DotA game while playing just now - his ping just went down to zero?! Not sure if that's Garena acting up again or the connection.

Overall experience so far: 7/10.

for a moment i was wondering what this fibernet 2.0 is, until i saw from hwz news section. viewqwest should have also inform customers via email also to keep customers updated on any upcoming changes or promo. it's not good for customer to find new changes or promo from 3rd party sites rather from the company itself

its a garena issue.. everyone suffers from it. Its the way garena works, by tunneling users around unfirewalled ppl to bypass NAT issues. so if the guy you're tunneling around disappears suddenly, u get DC'ed, unless u manage to retunnel the host through someone else

for supplied cable, long distance are always user have to supply, likewise u go outside by your own router, the package only supply a short cable like 1.5-2m cable.

VQ does not block any ports or restrict, for router mode, you need to request for the router admin acct for you to access any port forward feature, due to the current limitation of the firmware. which you could accidentally change the fiber setting rendering you unable to access the net.

speeed wise, torrents on public trackers will always never be able to achieve full 100mbps unless you on those private tracker that force you to share. public trackers dun force user to share so speed is always sucky.

Agreed. We should have communicated this a bit better. We will be updating our Website on the new features of Fibernet 2.0

All features will be applied to all existing plans. We will be rolling this out over the month of June for all our existing customers.

All customers who have subscribed to our Static IP services will have their subscription plans revised accordingly.

There are no changes to the price plans. Static IP services are now standard on all services.

having static ip with no additional premium price is definitely a plus, will there be any hidden cost or admin fee?

a few qns might ask,
how would this affect those on bridge mode? does that mean user will not be able plug directly to test the connection without cloning the mac address on the PC if using own router?

also the fully qualified domain for user is using VQ domain or user will be able to use their own domain if they have one? will user be able to change the name or once choosen will be fixed?

Nope the static IP is now included in our standard plans.

The MAC address the static IP is to be tied to has to be provided to us. If there is a change in the device. You need to contact our NOC to reassign the MAC.

The fully qualified domain name will be of the format xxxxxx.fibernet.sg - if you have your own domain name you will be able to configure it yourself.

Just got my 100-fiber installed last week. Many thanks to ViewQuest. Tech-guy was friendly and gave good advice while installing.

Small hiccup was that I only opted for iptv but tech guy brought freedom-vpn kit instead cos he was informed so. I insisted that I didn't sign up for that (extra $10/month) but he said he couldn't take my word for it - advised me to take it up with VQ. While authenticating with VQ, the tech guy managed to confirm that I only signed up for iptv - he then finished his installation, went down to his vehicle and gave me an iptv kit (I believe intended for another customer later in the day but he said he'd get another before heading there).

Good job there.

Pretty impressive speed - 112.86 down / 47.46 up, tech guy said my line impedance was something like -26.0, which was very good. Youtube 1080p vids load up in like no time.

Thanks VQ.

Wierd. I received a call from a contractor engaged by Opennet. They told me they want to come to "activate the second port of my TP" or something like that because apparently first port is still leased to Nucleus Connect.

Because I was puzzled at what's going on, I repeatedly confirmed with him that there will be no installation of another TP. He assured me they r coming down just to activate the port.

ViewQwest, do you know if the second port is not activated by default? I thought both ports are active once ready for service. I believe they were arranged by Opennet which in turn was arranged by you
