the zhone as mention by viewqwest is now a property of VQ, and the rental will cover the warranty after 2yrs. refer to this post www.hardwarezone.com.sg - View Single Post - Any folks on Viewqwest fibre?

if you subscribe direct the iptv bundle, no top up. fibernet 100 to 100+iptv bundle, topup the difference of $5.05

It is only the property of VQ if the Zhone router is on rental basis from VQ. Haman paid full price aka purchased the Zhone router, so it belongs to him for as long as the device will last

Nope the static IP is now included in our standard plans.

The MAC address the static IP is to be tied to has to be provided to us. If there is a change in the device. You need to contact our NOC to reassign the MAC.

The fully qualified domain name will be of the format xxxxxx.fibernet.sg - if you have your own domain name you will be able to configure it yourself.

What about fibernet 60? Will that plan have static IP?

either way if you want warranty after 24th month, u need to pay $5.35/mth after that.
however to clarify his qns, becos 100+iptv state free zhone rental. will he get back his zhone fee? i think that's what he suppose to be asking.

I asked that question some time ago to VQ already

If fully paid up front for the Zhone, no refund when switching to a plan with free rental of modem or modem on rental basis

As the fibernet 60 plan is no longer available. The static IP will not be available on that plan. You would need to upgrade to the Fibernet 100.

Hi ViewQwest, this IPTV bundle promo for existing customers on the Fiber 100, how much do i need to top up besides the $5 increase per month? Is the WD TV given free or need to pay again? Please note I activated my line in April so the Zhone is already paid upfront in the bill (Which I should be receiving on the next cycle according to Rubi). Also now that you have converted the upfront payment of Zhone to rental basis and I'm on a 1 year contract, so does that means I have to pay additional rental of 5.35 from the 13th month onwards which will make it $70 (65+5) per month?

The IPTV Bundle for $65 normally does require the additional $5.35/mth modem rental. However we are running a promo now where the modem rental is waived. For those who have already purchased the modem if you switch to this plan you will not need to pay for the modem rental.

Then if I upgrade to fibernet 100, what about my one time payment of ONT? Do I need to pay the rent for it? If no need to pay, then for how long, 12mths or 24mths?

As long as you have paid for the ONT there is no need to pay or rent it. All our plans are now for 12 mths.

Not sure if I'm interpreting this correctly, but shouldn't those that have paid the $128 ONT be entitled to a $5 monthly rebate off the bill (for 24 months) if they convert to the bundle, since those new sign-ups (who have not paid anything) get the modem rented for free now?

Woah, it's getting a little hard to keep up with all the changes - you guys are (understandably) flip-flopping the plans quite a bit...

which kinda make promo not quite a promo for existing customer.

i think VQ need to clarify this promo as it create confusion for new and existing customer.

those existing customers switching to this plan during the "promo" period, the penalty is no refund of the prepaid modem, no rental fee is required, but for extended warranty, a $5.35 applies after 24th month?

new customers, no rental fee for this promo plan, is it free for life for the duration on VQ connection on this bundle plan? or after the promo, the rental fee applies? the terms is not quite clear enough.

VQ claims rental is not sustainable on 60mbps plan, so they removed it. but yet it is able to come out a promo where the same 100mbps with extra $5.05 you get free WD iptv device (retail value $179) plus one voice ($5.35) with free rental of modem ($5.35). i can understand VQ is trying to attract new customers.

till date, there is still no special promo from viewqwest to address those who had alr prepaid the modem, before they change all plans to rental fee for modem to address the high startup cost which shock some of user with the 1st bill.

now with fibernet2.0 coming after 2mths of revising its plans, now comes with free static ip available on all plans, so big thumbs up for viewqwest, making the 200mbps static ip plan cheaper and those wanting to get static ip now have one. but then the penalty goes to those on 60mbps, to get static ip, they need to upgrade to 100mbps.

plans are getting better for Viewqwest, but the key issue will still be the modem for user that had prepaid for it

Even with all this unclear issue, i'm still happy with Viewqwest service, despite the 2 outages i encounter.

Well, I am very sure that these issues are very much a happy problem, just needing some ironing out. I am on red, and the more I see VQ's plans, the more I want to jump ship though I still have 6 mths more to go for contract.

I have been paying $95.90 since a year and a half ago, and now it seems new red customers get even less for this very same price due to gradual changes to the plans that seem to slowly but surely remove perks and benefits without a corresponding price drop or service quality improvements.

Outage wise, I think I have never seen an RSP not have any. I've had at least two major ones on red, orange and purple just had one a while back, and green just had/is still having one as of now :s13:

Anyone else experiencing more 'dropped' connections on the Zhone's wireless signal?

Previously was on Starhub's cable connected to an SMC router and the wireless signal, while weaker compared to VQ, was stable throughout the house.

With VQ, my sister has been telling me that her laptop now loses the wireless signal from time to time.

Is this normal?

The IPTV Bundle is a permanent plan as with any of our other plans. The $65/mth is still subject to a $5.35/mth modem rental charge as with any of our other plans.

As an introductory offer, we are waiving the modem rental charges until further notice. We will keep this promo running at least till the end of the PC show.

We would love to be able to give the WD box to all our customers. But it does cost us money as well. We will be making the WD box available to our existing customers at a special price. We are just working out the details with our supplier and should have the information in time for the PC show.
