Some of my colleagues have been buying these Luk Chup back whenever they visited Thailand which according to them are very good to eat. Me I don't like them, found it to have a slightly bitter taste and the thick waxy skin outside seem so elastic.

Assorted Thai Desserts which included Khanom Tom, Thong Yod and Khanom Tako.

Thong Yod - Thong Yod (The Egg Drop Coated in Syrup) is an ancient Thai dessert served in auspicious ceremonies. It made from the mixture of egg Yolk and flour boiled in syrup. It is in popular family of desserts consisting of Thong (meaning Gold) in all of the names. Thong-yib, Thong-yod, Foy-thong, all mean to wish everyone with gold; much money and treasure, and to spend forever.

The usual Green Tea and Vanilla flavoured Ice Creams are all here. Can't remembered what was the other flavour.

Mango was only available at this level, you won't find it at Taste.

They only served the white Dragon Fruit and not the sweeter red flesh version.

Assorted Pralines - Most buffets in Singapore only have a few varieties but here they have nine types of praline, ten if you considered the chocolate dipped dates.

Khanom Tom - Glutinous rice flour dumplings stuffed with sweet coconut. Could be a variation of the Ondeh Ondeh we have locally though their size was much smaller.

470-Zest.jpg

Add-ons for dumpling - I guess you're supposed to eat these with the Steamed Thai Dumplings and Khanom Tom.

471-Zest.jpg

Now you know why it's called Zest Bar & Terrace. The narrow open air terrace overlooked the busy streets below and offered a view of the Bangkok skyline.

472-Zest.jpg

Given Bangkok's notorious warm and humid weather, most of us wouldn't want to be out here except when you are a smoker.

Cigarette Ashtray - It's windy out here so this ashtray will prevent the ashes from being blown all over the place.

A view of Bangkok Skyline and the BTS Asok Station to the left.

475-Zest.jpg

Colourful taxi on the road - These multi-coloured taxi are all very new and clean compared to those in Malaysia which looked like they are about to fall apart anytime.

476-Zest.jpg

BTS Asok Station is just a stone's throw away so it's relatively easy to get here. Or you can take the MRT and alight at Sukhumvit Station, a little bit further away.

BTS Asok Station - As I stand at the terrace watching the trains zoom in and out of the station, I noticed their arrival timing to be quite frequent unlike our SMRT which even during peak hours was not so frequent.

478-Zest.jpg

479-Zest.jpg

It was so warm outside, lets get back to our foods.

Assorted Sashimi - From clockwise we have Amaebi (Sweet Shrimp), Yellowtail (I think), Tako (Octopus), Hokkigai (Arctic Surf Clam), Pickled Saba (Mackerel) and Salmon belly in the center. A rare find in a buffet was this Hokkigai which had a delicate texture and unique fresh-sweet taste. But none was as sweet as this Amaebi and the flesh was firm, not mushy.

Doesn't this fatty Salmon Belly look tempting to you?

482-Zest.jpg

Salad - Thai like to use peanuts in a lot of their dishes.

If your kids does not want to stay in the Kids Club upstairs then let this Balloon Sculpting Clown entertain them instead.

BKK have a lot of Japanese restaurants in shopping centres, should have no problem finding tom yam hot pot buffet. My previous thread we went to this restaurant in Chinatown, foods not bad. In fact Chinatown have many places to eat though I haven't got chances to try them yet. My colleague told me, when you pass by a restaurant, any restaurant, just check if there are a lot of people eating inside. If yes, just pop in and try the foods, you will never know unless you try.

The Taste restaurant the buffet only on Sunday lunch, other days don't have.

This boy was very courteous, when he received the balloon, he thanked him with a slight bow and the palms pressed together in a prayer-like fashion.

Sashimi and Sushi

491-Zest.jpg

I love all the four Sushi below especially the unagi one although both the seared sushi are also very good too. Somehow the vinegar rice open up my appetite so I have no issue downing many of them but this being a buffet, I'll just have to stop at a few pieces else I will not have enough space in my tummy for other foods.
