Any recommendations for casing. Looked thru the forum, no one selling. Will Samsung tab casing fit the Huawei? Or better to get those generic 7' tablet casing? Thank you.

Update on my new tablet, going to update ics once I find the details.

Try Qoo10

I have used both portfolio case, and the Nillkin. Their cutting were specific for this device. I bought the portfolio case in Sim Lim, some shop on level 4. My Nillkin was from Qoo10, as from the list above. Currently using the Nillkin as it was slim.

this was what happened to me for the purchase of Nillkin via Qoo10 (copied from my review on the site too):

purchased on Thu, 11 Oct. seller updated status over the weekend. The item was shipped from Guang Zhou (China) on 15 Oct, reached Singapore on 17 Oct, and arrived at my house on 18 Oct.

Hi all, to update ics, i downloaded the files from huawei website thru the tablet itself, unzipped, put the upgrade folder into sdcard root and manage to get into recovery. But it keeps failing. Just tried putting the 2 files jn root without any folder, fail again. Am i missing a step? Thank you.

Bought the older model mediapad. Prefer the better display.

Been tempted to get one of these too but i couldnt get a straight answer whether it is possible to make voice calls on it. My understanding is that, voice calls is possible after upgrading to ICS but now the Challenger guy at great world says its not possible with the newer batches. Also hard to find much info or official support for this model - looks like huawei just wants to focus on their newer and cheaper model

i bought from challenger in early nov, upgraded to ICS, and can make voice calls using headset. it doesn't have a "speaker" at the top of the tablet like the samsung galaxy tab 2 so you can't hold the mediapad to your ear.

Just follow the instructions in the pdf exactly and don't use your own method. worked for me on the 1st try.

Managed to update the mediapad to ics. Much smoother and screen sensitive. Haven't really played ard with it since I bought it. The 1 change I did compared to my previous tries was I took out the sd card before offing the tablet and putting in after its off. Thanks all for ur advice especially about following the exact instructions.

Ok, good to know. Btw, did you have to install your own dialler or did the ICS update come with one? Which dialler do you use? Thks

Tested the phone function today. Managed to call out. The update came with phone and message app. Didn't do any additional flashing to acquire them.

I can't give a proper review or comment as I have barely played with it. I use my asus transformer as my primary tablet at home and 4.7" hp when outside. The things I can confirm is the ics much better, and when left on its own with wifi on, it lasted ard 3 days. I read thru the whole thread before buying so I knew most of its weakness. Once I have a free day to play ard with it, will give my thoughts on battery life, speed, lag and screen quality.

But 300 for a 3g tablet with all the connectivity needed, 1280 by 800 screen, 1 yr waranty and non plastic build is hard to beat. I initially wanted to get a samsung tab 7 2.0 or plus but feel this might be better buy due to similar spec and lower price.

if you don't like to use headset but prefer to hold a 7" or 7.7" tab to your ear to make phone calls, you can get the samsung galaxy tab 2 7", tab plus or tab 7.7" :s13:

my made-in-china 7" tablet can hold to the ear to make phone calls, this is how i'm using it :s13:

I prefer the samsung tablet's sleek looks over the huawei medipad, but bought the mediapad after considering the specs and pricing. if the samsung tab got fire sale, i sure will grab one :D

I dun really need the hp function. In fact I have hardly used the mediapad. Just always wanted a 7 inch tablet. My wife seems to like the handiness of it.

Just a short review, the tablet takes bout 3 hrs to charge fully. From 100% at 550am to 73% at 1010pm. Not touched during the time, but wifi was on. Still haven't fully used it to judge during use. The screen looks good, touch sensitivity is good. If not for the brand name and release a yr back, this would cost much more. Bad point, assesories seem hard to get. Using daiso screen protector because prefer clear and a slicon htc flyer case. Should be ordering a proper casing online soon.
