- for DV, i saw from prev posts that it takes abt 7 days to transfer. i am assuming that this is only is you are coming in from another operator. my DV service is barely disrupted (except on the nite the vlan tagging was removed, but next morning it is fine), so if u are a recontract customer, u may not need to worry about this. maybe AhWise can clarify on this?

*Special note*
When u call 1627, always tell them to indicate in ur case log on what u requested (dates of appts, date to deactivate vlan, waivers, stuff like that) cuz i think there is a history for them to refer. my mistake was i assumed they will take note, but after some calls in and realized there are no traces of my prev calls, i proactively told them to note what i said down. it seems to help.

juz my 2cents worth.. M1 by far have the best fibre service (comparing to my other friend with other ops fibre plans), but maybe customer service wise, can still improve..

7 days is for number porting from ISP. Recontract customer should not have much downtime, like what you mention, once vlan tagging is removed, it should be usable directly from the black ont after restart. problem is when its removed and when u restart it.

as mention, it be important to call 1627 to clarify all the issues before going down. if you are a m1 mobile subscriber, usually have a call log to refer to. use your mobile line to call in =)

i wouldn't suggest signing up as a separate account.. some people may be already using their preferred username, or have other lines under their name for bundled discount.. as frustrating as it was, the positive thing i can take out from my experience was that i faced very limited downtime (although it was during the time i was doing work) as promised by the CS.. so if you want to change from white ONT to black, maybe the following list (non exhaustive and based on my experience) might be useful:

What a good piece of advice from Nurazhar.. Thank you !
May be AhWise should update his first post to direct white ONT user to this post ...

interested to know too...

can i drop by m1shop to buy with my bill?

my understanding is M1 Shop stock for Asus RT66U is pretty low, had a few reply they didnt manage to get that in shop, So might be out of stock. The previous Linksys routers purchase just have to show your signup documents then can purchase the router, not so sure about for Asus.

Got the asus router at M1 Nex. perhaps anyone interesed can go there for it.
Just queue at the cashier and paid for it. But he will ask for your ic number perhaps to certify that you have engage M1 services. I didn't show any bills or contract nor did the M1 staff asked me to show him.

Is it true that on the day of installation if i were to ask the technician to set up the router he will charge me for that? That is what i was told when i asked the M1 staff in the shop.

Anyone has any advise what has to be done if i really have to set it up myself after the installation?

Hi guys.. I am on 100mbps plan but I am only getting average 70mb/s on speedtest local host(Wired).

Done speedtest on anytime of the day getting the same results.

My connection RG ->HUAWEI(Disable DHCP/WIRELESS)->DLINK DIR655.

Tried connecting direct RJ45 to huawei but getting same results.

Is something wrong with my bandwidth or modem faulty?

Had called M1 recently about it and said they had remotely updated my firmware.. but still the same though =/

WOW really? that's cool... :s13:
for wifi password is there a set up instruction for that when i plug it in? i m a total nut case on setting up network at home.

What is port forwarding?

Looking at the post in this thread, i see people hitting close to 90mbps, is that using wifi? recently my parent's place install fibre too, but not with M1, the max i got thru wifi and less than 1/2 metre away from the given router is 30mbps!!!!

Crossing my fingers that i will be able to get at least 60mbps in my middle room on wifi using this asus router placed in the living room.

yes, u can follow the guide that comes with the router to setup the wifi password. if u do not know what is port forwarding, then u probably dont need it.

So what do i need to note or do on the day of the installation?

Should I do a speedtest at various parts of the house before the technician leave?

i dont tink whether u can get good speed with your wifi is his kpi...

his kpi is to get a reasonable speed via direct connection to ont only... anything more is just bonus...

Yeah both desktop and laptop on gigabit nic.

Had tried bypass router and connect with cat6 get around 82-85mb/s.

Should I call M1 up and ask tech to check? :s11:

I remember when I had just sign up I was getting 93-97mbps :(

hahaa.. i tink these r jus figures... they r not affecting my surfing speed or latency

the speed depends on many reasons such as intermediate hops and the time of the day...

no point calling... they will jus tell u they will update firmware blah blah blah standard faq answer...
