the part with "whether u like it or not" is the one that puts me off... there's no flexibility in the service... competitors allow "free router" OR "first month free"... I kinda prefer the second option...

I know I need the ONT.. which, if i'm not wrong, VQ is the only one charging rental for... -1 for them...

From the comments posted so far, it seems ViewQwest service just isn't suitable for you. With ViewQwest, we don't pay peanuts nor do we get monkey business.

For any Fiber broadband service using GPON technology you will require a GPON modem. So we are trying to help you minimize the amount of equipment you have by integrating the router functionality in this device as well.

Apparently, with this integration I'm getting only 5-11bmps thru wifi, and my laptop is placed directly next to the Zhone, no obstruction nothing...

I'm still awaiting solution from NOC for this poor wifi issue, despite 2nd router change & BEST allocation for the 2.4ghz channels!! :(:s11::vijayadmin:

Maybe you can share the specifications of your laptop and let's put our minds together to see what's wrong. The 5-11Mbps throughput for WiFi on Zhone just isn't right. Looks more like an early 802.11b kind of performance.

If possible, some screenshots of the laptop's WiFi adapter's settings.

download inssider and check how many wireless AP is on the channel same as ur zhone. and wat is the connected wireless link speed your laptop. being next to your zhone doesn't mean best speed

also do not test with inssider running, it slows down the wireless connection

But the speedtest was done using yr engineer's laptop?? :o

Btw all speedtest was conducted with no additional programs running in background. All other device like ipad & iphone wifi connectivity was all switched off

Hi MaoMao,

You will get lots of these comments from users of VQ. Ha ha. We might sound like staff of VQ but aren't.

Just customers who are keen to help out and who are happy enough with VQ's service to lend a help to support the hard-working Tech team from VQ.

I had enquired about moving to my new flat & was told by VQ that i needed to unplug my ONT & shift it to my new flat, then call them to configure from their side.

Now i am told by a Vince that "it is not as simple as just moving the ONT. If it was, we would let our customers provision their connectivity themselves and save us a whole lot of hassle. I would recommend the following. We install a new ONT at the new premises and you simply return your current ONT to us. This would ensure minimum disruption."

Why are different staff saying different things? I was told to DIY or else it would cost $100+ for the staff to do it for me. Now i an told the staff HAS to come down & do it for me. So which is which? And i assume VQ is going to charge for this? I recall I already paid over $100 for "relocation service" so now i have to pay again?

And to make ot worst VQ does not work weekends so now I need to take leave specially for this? I just started a new job not too long ago so this would be considered unpaid leave since im not confirmed yet.

I dont get it. VQ has been in business for so long, surely you have enough experience on how NOT to confuse & inconvenience customers!!

Yes, it has become obvious to me as well that VQ is not the service I am looking for. The cost is not peanuts, but I can hear the monkeys gibber...

if you are put off by the small $5 fee, u can always choose the other competitors, why hesitate in choosing which provider. others give u free months and considerable cheaper or lower rate, while VQ only give u one mth during the sitex promo.

I'm put off by the lack of flexibility... A decision has been made. Adios!

PM sent. Hope u can clarify cos its really so confusing with diff staff saying diff things. Kindly note that i have already been billed for the relocation service & was told i just need to call & say when i want it activated at the new flat

I have no issue with your guy coming down to set up. Only problem is they only work week days & i dont want to take unpaid leave (new job, not confirmed yet). That plus its gonna cost me. Speaking of which, how come one needs to pay $100+ for relocation service when it does not include the staff doing the set up onsite? So what is this relocation fee for?

I dont recall starhub charging such a fee when i told them i was tranferring my cable TV from old to new flat.

this isnt so simple for opennet..

not like starhub just switch one cable point to another.

each switch needs opennet to deactivate old and activate new point

Actually, relocating SH maxonline also incurs relocation charges. I've experienced this twice.

Reason for the charge is partly because we do get billed by OpenNet - there is a fee for un-patching and re-patching the connection.

The other part is for our own side, we have to recover the cost of sending someone down to your place to install everything.

Thanks for the PM - let me talk to the engineers first to see how we can best work this out, will send you an update later today :)
