will increasing the ram improve a game fps? or is it solely based on graphic card

If I remember correctly the effect of having say, 4GB and 6GB or even 8GB of RAM on gaming is negligible. But then again I'd say 4GB of ram is the bare minimum on any machine. My 2 year old main rig still uses 4gb of ram and only in very intensive game I'd see my RAM usage up to ~90%, otherwise for daily usage it works perfectly fine. Pretty sure there are benchmarks on 4GB of ram vs 8GB of ram on gaming, just google it if you're interested.
You will see a MUCH more significant difference in gaming if you upgrade/or add your video card.

You already have a HD 5450 install? Then if you want you can replace it with a more powerful one. But if you're correct on your PSU being only 250W, you don't have a lot of options for medium-high end video card. TBH a $100 budget is not that much to upgrade your existing setup. Have you consider getting a part time job, save up $800 or so and get a brand new machine (or even lower if you salvage from your current rig)

what's usually the case where more than 4GB of RAM is needed? Contemplating whether to upgrade from 4GB too

I have saved a total of $3000 over the holidays when I worked while waiting for my O levels result. But I'm afraid I would screw up while installing the parts thats why i do not dare to spend such a large amount of money on this upgrade until i learn it in my module of computer architecture or so

It will still be 32 bits.
Getting a new 64 bits os will cost u $100.

The key is good for both 32bit and 64bit Windows7. TS need not fork out $100 for upgrading to 64 bit Windows7.

All he/she need is the 64bit media (ISO/DVD).:)

If you buy the parts from SLS some of the shops will assemble it for you FOC, but I prefer assembling on my own. First time assembling a PC quite intimidating but they're all quite standard. There are plenty of how-to videos on youtube, look that up if you're going that route. Otherwise, I don't really have anymore suggestions. Good luck. :)

Since you are planning on getting a new pc in the near future.. Why not get a new psu(power supply) and gpu(graphic card) first?? You can always ask the shop do the swapping for you
or you can go to the hwz sim Lim conor there and ask gs do that for you. There's also fortran around. Those 2 are quite reputable around in hwz. Since you can definitely reuse these 2 parts later when u get a new system urself.
You can get an ssd too if you have enuf sata slots, but ssd is not recommended since your mobo/cpu don't support sata 6gbps transfer rate.

Just my 2 cents .

i do not think the computer architecture teach you that much about installing/replacing hardware.

its not that difficult. and you can always go and find gs like what the other members said.

i was refering to this thread
http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/h...corner-all-diy-hardwarezoner-^-^-3581022.html

and theres another bro in hwz that do door to door service in hwz, name fortran i believe. you gotta ask around in here for his contact thou.

hmmmm okay guys! i think i will go and have a look around there :p took note of the address already haha! so in conclusion.... i need a better power supply, more ram and a better graphic card? all i have to do is to shop around SLS and bring the parts to that corner and ask them to fix for me , or even teach me :D?

You can try change the ram and see how is it first. If in the end u are building a new pc, u can still use the ram u brought it.

I suggest get a brand new 8 gb at least.
